Hey guys I have a weird observation - not really an issue

Going down the highway at approximately 75 and 5th gear, if I apply 50% throttle position and hold it for 3 seconds, she jumps a few hundred RPMs. It's almost as if it's half of a gear change but I know it didn't go to 4th

I have a sloppy video but you can see the RPM jump

    Anyone have an idea?

I'm figuring it's along these lines, thank you! I'm having an issue where the Torque Converter is getting into the low 200s easy and randomly on high way it will surge to 220 - thinking its related to the way the TC is responding.

Gonna keep digging into seeing if that's a correlation. Has anyone experienced similar with the TC especially the temps?

From what I read on the OVtune thread , the 3rd gen Tacoma with the 3.5L engine AT in 4th -6th gears , has torque convertor unlocked , 1/2 locked and locked. So 3 different rpms possible conditions per gear . It is hard to tell what gear your are really in without an OBDII app as such as Fusion , but even fusion only shows locked and unlocked ( or maybe it is 1/2 locked ) but it only shows 2 different conditions . It is really helpful though .
    Check out the thread .

Edit , the temps are lower when the Fusion app shows "1" which I believe is locked .

Can you monitor the TC clutch solenoid? I think it's SLT or SLU.

First, let me say I don't know why. I'm going to watch this thread in the hopes of learning something.

But I do wonder why you're intentionally cruising at 75 MPH in 5th gear? That's the part that really puzzles me.

Maybe I'll learn something if I listen carefully...

I just looked thru the SAE pid's and did not see anything related to the TQ , or SLU or PMW . I did see a pid for the "actual gear status " I added it to my monitoring page and will see what it does .

This is visual on Lock Up status and SLU solenoid status.

    Flex-lock sure is busy...
Looks like the 'steps' in SLU represent varying degrees of flex-lock(1/4 lock, 1/2 lock, etc.)

I'm using Torque Pro but let me try out Fusion, I liked your layout.

And @Tullie D @75 (on speedo), I barely can hold 5th gear on flat ground. Rarely can I cruise in 6th, need a regear
