It's not a bedliner, it IS the bed. The bed is made of composite.

That is the bed as stated above, and it is slick. I highly suggest the bed mat if you buy one of these trucks.

Very few places will do it. It takes more in prep than its worth. The bed is pretty tough as is, so I wouldn't worry about damaging it. What are your intentions on use for the truck you decide to buy?

Yeah, I didn’t do much research on the bed. So I didn’t fully understand. But when I looked at the rear wheel well, it really sank in. I’m sure it saves a ton of weight.

Bed mat, best of both worlds, it can be removed for when you want things to slide.

Toyota calls it composite. GMC calls it
    Resin. It's all plastic.
They just don't like the connotation that goes along with the term "plastic"

It’s definitely not plastic it’s more like Fiberglass.

Not plastic. The bed is made of Sheet Molded Compound fiberglass. Sheets of fiberglass matting and resin are compressed and heated in a mold. It produces precisely made fiberglass parts quickly with little to no cleanup needed and ready to be painted.

The process has been around for decades. All those spoilers tacked onto muscle cars in the 1960's and 1970's were made with the SMC fiberglass process.

It's a fiber reinforced plastic. Tough as hell. Wouldn't doubt it's ability to stand toe to toe with a steel bed and can beat it in certain aspects like puncture resistance. And saves a few pounds without going to aluminum.
Downside is its slicker than a banana peel in Mario cart but that is an easy fix and sometimes an advantage.

If you dare drill a hole in it :anonymous:, don’t get the dust down your shirt or in your ginch. The fibres in the composite are like needles. I’ve never itched so much in my life.

The composite bed is one of the best things about the truck. Totally bulletproof. You just need a bed matt to counteract the teflon-like smoothness.

Sorry guys, it is Plastic. Yes it has glass fiber filler, and it is sheet molded (SMC), but the binder is plastic. Thermoplastic to be more precise. Common fiberglass is a thermoset plastic, (typically sheets of woven fiberglass with an epoxy binder).

When I removed the tailgate portion of the fiberglass bed to install @KTJO 4x4 tailgate lock kit, I was impressed and surprised by the weight and quality of the piece.

Second this emotion — bed mat (same for 2nd Gen) is fantastic until you need to slide something in and out of the bed. Easy to roll up and stow to the side if necessary, or leave at home for a trip to the hardware store. If you carry a small bungee, makes it easy to stow rolled up.
