Norcal Spotted and BS Thread

Practice is beginning to heat up in the 'hood. Fireworks practice, that is. Could be a special year.

I hereby invite all comers to my house for the 4th to watch the crazies in the Oakland hoods.
It's a Thursday, and I have to work on Friday. Fortunately, not much happens on Fridays.

Fireworks begin around sunset, and usually last til after midnight. I'll be in bed before then, though.
So, if you're not out fighting the crowds during the Holidays, come on by. Bring the kiddies. I'll be charring some meats, and drinking cold brew.

 

The Tower of London is cool. And at the risk of sounding like a total nerd check out the London natural history museum and Kew gardens (AKA the London botanical gardens)

 

London also has an amazing WWII museum.

 

If you like literature grab a beer at The Eagle and Child, locals call it Bird and Baby. CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien used to have a literature club there on thursdays with a number of other well-known authors.

 

Drink beer, eat fish and chips, see Stonehenge and many other places. Newmarket and Cambridge are great towns to see. Go see the Roman baths downtown London. Ride the tube drunk and get lost.

If you happen to be there between July 4-7 the Goodwood festival of speed will be going on. I’ve always wanted to go watch the hill climb up Lord March driveway.

 

Could always go to Silcocks funland. It's like Disneyland here.
I couldn't handle the people and the lines. F that.

Or take a ferry to Ireland and take a black cab tour through Belfast. Stop and visit my family and see some real pubs.

As a sailor and Navy man, I would have to see anything related to Admiral Horatio Nelson.

Maybe buy this book. I read it a couple years ago while on vacation. It was laying about in a lobby. Traded it for a book I had just finished.
