I have a 7YO in a backless booster and a 4YO in a Diono R120 car seat without any issue.

No problem at all. Unless you're at least old enough to vote, you're not riding in my truck, and regardless of how old you are, don't even THINK of bringing in any food. Coffee in spill-resistant cups... okay but that's it.

the back seat is pretty useless imo... I had my nephews (ages 12 and 14) riding around back there and they were cramped as hell. I'd say anyone over 5ft tall is going to have a hard time.

Edit: unless the driver and passenger are midgets and have their seats all the way forward...

How tall are you. My wife is due in November and I'm hoping we don't run into space issues with the back seat.

Got a tall 5.5yr old and his full car seat in the back of my double cab and there’s lots of room for him and my 5’8” wife in the front.

I drive around in a double cab with an 8 year old in one of these without any issues. I do make her take her shoes off though, otherwise the backs of the seats/center console get dirty and scuffed up.

My two nieces 10 / 16 are fine back there. Even with the front seats all the way back. They also don't take up a lot of space.

FYI. I bought a thick, waterproof, SUV-size back seat cover from Amazon and installed it under my sons car seat. I think it was advertised for protection from dog hair and muddy paws. About $40 bucks and it hangs down to cover the sides of the whole seat too. I’m expecting that my back seat will still look mint when i’m finally done with it.

My son is 15yo with 36" inseams. He does not fit in the back comfortably at all. Anyone over 5'11" is probably going to be tight.

We have a 6 month old and pretty much never take the truck anymore. You can fit a rear facing car seat in the middle but both front seats comfort are compromised and cannot fit the dog in the truck. With the car seat behind the passenger seat my 5' tall wife's knees are in the dash. I'm 6' and couldn't ride over there for more than a couple blocks to the store.

Its my wife's daily driver and she really prefers to take any of our other cars over the truck now. Due to this truck is going to be for sale. It would not be an issue if our son was front facing but hes not. They are recommending now that children ride rear facing until 4yrs old and I'm just not going to put up with the lack of room for another 3.5 years. The same car seat fits just fine in the back of my work car which is a Jetta Sportwagen.

I have these on mine for that very reason: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C5D4Z5A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I liked them enough to buy another set for my wife's Expedition.

I don't know if I'd do more than one kid in the taco that's in car seats... we have the diono radian strapped up in the middle with my 2 yr old forward facing. she loves it b/c the backseat sit a bit higher and she can see clearly out the front of the truck which keeps her happy on long trips. if we put the same seat behind me or my wife, she'd be kicking the seats all the time whether she intended to or not... FWIW

I second the kick mats, relatively inexpensive and they work well. however they aren't padded, so don't expect any impact protection against them kicking or pushing against the seat with their feet.

I just ordered a 4Runner fot this exact reason. One rear facing carseat and the diaper bag and doing errands for the day and the backseat is packed. I agree it's pretty useless unless your a smurfs . I guess my idea of room and other guys on here ideas of room vary greatly because I think the back is very small and cramped , yet another guy on here will say with 2 kids in the backseat with 2 carseats and theres tons of room. Im not seeing it that way. My passenger seat has to be about a quarter way up just for the rear facing child seat to fit and then the passenger is in my line of sight looking thrue the passenger window. I test drove a 4runner and there was a ton of room in the backseat with the passenger seat all the way back. I think it's even crazier when guys on here say the Tacoma and 4runner have a bout the same room in the backseats, no way the 4runner is way roomier. At the end of the day I love my Taco but it's too cramped.
