Buddy of mine had his Tundra tailgate stolen while he was having dinner with his wife.
    Lots of people, lights etc.

Came out and it was gone.
Got a new one through the dealership n insurance.

    Two weeks later, poof.
    Gone again from.his driveway .

really strange, never had my ranger tailgate stollen or anything, just the passenger window...the asshats seem to like the passenger window....

I lived in IA area Commiefornia also.........here in the Austin area, there is one road everyone knows that you are gonna get rolled or broke into....also the road you can get meth, hookers, illegal firearms and more from....APD even say the area is an issue.

Just got this put on with a new tailgate. Mine wasnt stolen but crushed but I figured since I haf it off might as well swap it out. I would say the cool thing as far as the last 2 hours that I've had it on is it "programs" to your door/ignition key so no extra keys to carry around.

Yeah, probably more humane to use a castrating band. A hose clamp's a bit crude.

That’s why you add 2 steel zip ties, then put on the hose clamp over them, add a tailgate lock, and a tonneau cover, then on the left hand side of the tailgate add the washer mod to the hook. Good luck to anyone trying to steal the tailgate quickly through all that.

Call some Cap and camper companies. They sometimes have some from work trucks they put caps on.

Hose clamps can be broken off in less than 10 seconds with a screwdriver. A lock like a Sabellco is much more secure. Check to see if the others will fit a 3rd gen, some like Master locks don't.

I put one of those on and JB welded it on the inside too. I painted it gloss black so it blends in. I never had the need to take the tailgate off anyway. Stealing my gate would be a hassle now.
