I lost my keys and now I need a new key fob. What’s the best option out there? 2005 Sport.

Have you considered an aftermarket car alarm? Security + new fobs = win.

I need a new fob but I heard the Amazon ones are a real bitch to program. You need to do a series of weird things with the door, the locks and key. Sounds complicated.

ETA: damn this place, ordered. For $10 worth a shot!

    'Stock-But-Capable' - I have four other 4x4s to mod
I've had 2 of the cheap ones. Both times either the lock or unlock button jammed and then broke within a month

You have to do the same "programming mode" sequence for the factory key fobs as well. When I got mine, the dealer mailed me two new fobs (they apparently lost the originals) about three weeks later. Then the local dealer (I live in Memphis, but bought the truck in Fayetteville, AR) wanted to charge me something like $150 to program the fobs. Rather than trying to get the AR dealer to pay for it, I spent two minutes in my parking garage and programmed them myself for free. It's pretty straight forward.

The keys were outside for four months exposed to the elements. Factory key fob still works!

Got my new fob and programmed it for my 2010 using the instructions above. Worked like a charm!!

In step ‘E’, turn the ignition all the way on, not just to accessory. That was the only hiccup I had, otherwise it was easy as pie!

I bought a couple of those less expensive ones some years ago for my wife's Sienna. Fantastic price, but only lasted about a year. Lock or unlock button would quit working. Had to get one for my Tacoma, so I bought one from Toyota online. Price was pretty hefty, but the thing still works , after almost 3 years. It also feels a little heavier than the cheaper ones I have bought in the past. Perhaps better built. All were easy to program.
