ext cab and double cab have the 18.5, reg cab has the 15 I believe. otherwise you may have a bad sending unit. could always try running it dry and see :p

Just looked at my FSM and there's an extensive procedure for testing the sending unit and low fuel light, but running it dry seems like the easiest approach (with gas can on board!)

However, the FSM shows two sending units, one for each tank size. I'm willing to bet many of us had fuel pumps replaced w/ the wrong sending unit by dumb mechanics. It seems too coincidental to have the low fuel light consistently pop on below 15gal.

Somehow I squeezed 17.5 gallons in on a refill I had to hold the nozzle to do it but it puts you way past full. A lot of fuel in the filler neck, also good to do this to check for gas leaks around the filler neck.

I'm not proud, but my largest fill up was 18.3 gallons

was trying to stretch out the fill-up and actually stalled coming up the off ramp

Damn, I’ve had to push my truck by myself a quarter mile from running out of gas. I now always carry a 2 gal because I do push it on fill ups in Ca @ 4.00 a gal, lol. I know you’re struggle too!:anonymous:

hah! you got me beat, I would just walk and pick up the gas

also, the only reason I stalled was some lady dead stopped in front of me to let another car in, thus shifting the remaining liquid and fumes out of the baffles and pickup area :\

Lol to that, I thought at first she was dead. I definitely hate running out of gas, a few times is all it takes to learn a lesson.
