This bike makes all my bike related ocd issues happy. One small piece of advice; wrap The whole damn thing with invisiframe. I wrapped my Spartan with matte since that’s the paint color, and I’m so glad (they also have gloss). It’s seriously impressive how well it holds up and keeps the bike looking like new.
My Spartan has 1k on it now, and while most bikes start to look hashed around the stays (heel rub, scuffs from rocks) , downtube (rock strikes), toptube (resting shit on it, knee rub), and back of stays (rocks and debris), I am seeing close to NO MARKS on any of it. Seriously still like new and it’s seen lots of abuse.

Just scored this Dakine tailgate pad on craigslist for $25 :bananadance:

I love the animal pattern too, don't see a lot of these mostly just the black ones around here.

When the pad is mounted properly, the flap to access the tailgate handle is a bit too high. I'm guessing the older tacomas have a shorter tailgate that this was more designed for.

Oh well, it will do the trick! Time to load up the bike!

Went to Dark Mountain at the Kerr Scott reservoir in Wilkes County NC. Lots of cool trails to play on. Broke in the new Roscoe 8!

The Alliance really has done an amazing job to bring Dark Mtn trails back to a rideable and fun state! My avatar is from my last race there and I genuinely LOVE OVT, Shiner's Loop, and Bandit's Roost... almost as much as Warrior Creek.

This could be a dumb question, but what do you guys do to prevent or mediate the sweat drainage into your eyes? Maybe I just perspire more than some, but my head becomes a faucet during these peak summer months.

USA Pro Cycling Championships were in Knoxville this weekend. A very rowdy weekend with crits through downtown Friday and the big road race on Sunday. The one local guy finished second on Sunday, he should get a fat contract with a team next season for sure. I thought I was in shape until I saw these guys average 25 MPH for 120+ miles

I can't say what works for others but I always wear a cap under my helmet. In the SE, it's not gonna suck up all the sweat but it helps a lot with slowing it from a waterfall to a drip. The other thing that most riders don't consider is the cumulative sun damage from not wearing anything under a helmet.

Just check out the "tan lines" my hat has gained in just two years from the helmet vents... that amount of sun exposure can cause some seriously unpleasant experiences with skin cancer... trust me on this; had multiple spots on my back and face removed.

thanks just ordered a headliner for myself. Ive always wonderered am I protected or not.

I wear spf full sleeve shirts and put a decent amount of sunblock on myself. I especially love high heat rides 1 - 4pm.

This was my first experience there. Just made the switch from road to mountain so this is all new to me. So much fun! Apparently the other 2 parks are closed due to the recent flooding. I live up the mountain in Boone so it's not a long drive.

I’m strictly mountain bike. No roadie for me. So thankfully I’ve got a good amount of foliage breaking up Mother Nature’s gaze.

Good suggestion though. I’ve tried bandannas and other headbands in the past. They helped with the sweat, but caused my helmet to fit awkwardly.

I agree on the foliage out here on the East coast (rain forest...) but anywhere out west, the sun is brutal and unrelenting; road or MTB.
