Do it! Manual transmission is so over rated. That is the thing keeping you from sheer bliss?

Start a gofundme so we can help get you out of your horrible truck.

What are you trying to achieve with these posts? Buy the truck you like. Stop harping on about how much you hate the Tacoma you (foolishly?) purchased. You are starting to go “full Smitty”.

He had the good sense to buy a Ranger. You should follow suit.

No, really do it. I can just see that grin on your face, windows rolled down, sunny afternoon, smoothly passing those sputtering clown Tacos and their Toyota corporate shill loser owners. Think fondly of us in our hunking piles of shit.

I feel like this is the same dynamic that ford and Toyota have had for awhile now. The Fords always seem better off the assembly line and are cheaper but 5 years later the quality of the Toyota really begins to shine while the Ford is falling apart. I drove a 2004 4runner up to 215000 miles. It was a trooper and never let me down. It was small and not too powerful and had its little quirks. I ended up selling it and bought an f150. The f150 was awesome! It was powerful, roomy, and comfortable. Which was great until the engine and transmission failed at 60000 miles. Ford fixed under warranty and then I traded it in for my Tacoma.

Or of curiosity I Google searched for ranger forums. There are at least five forums out there, surely one of them must have a bizarro-smitty that irritates the ranger enthusiasts to no end, going on and on about how superior the Tacoma is.

First observations- most of the ranger forums appear frighteningly polite at first glance. It's like the Canada of truck enthusiasts . Most threads that mention Tacoma go "sorry fellas, I went to the dark side and bought a Taco." It's usually followed by "sorry to see you go, I like their trucks but can't imagine paying a second mortgage on them. you're going to love that resale value.":puke:

But Lo- I did find one such example after 30 minutes of searching:

    Screenshot_20190709-093701_Chrome.jpg

Not quite on the level of full on trolling yet, but at least that guy got creamed on that thread. There must be better examples, so my expedition continues.

For you ranger guys, wouldn't it be fun to go over there and pile on against the lone wolf once in a while? Must be lonely being the one man wolfpack here... Just saying.

This is who you're dealing with:

He's always been entertainingly bi-polar. Thinks the Taco 3.5 is better than the Coyote one week and then shits all over the Taco a week later and talks about how great the Coyote is.....loopy.

It's his pattern. I was worried that after this 7 day enforced vacation that he'd change, or stay away. Thank God he's posting again, both feet squarely in his mouth with his head lodged up his ass. He's a TW original, a TW treasure and this place would be less entertaining without his flip flopping about.

I fondly remember the thread he started about seeing a couple Third Gens stopped on the side of the road and from that he drew the conclusion that they were all unreliable....ah memories:

Had an old 99 Ranger and she was pretty darn reliable. Horrible mpg and less power than the 2.7 Taco (I had the 3.0 V6) but I'd honestly say they were as reliable as the Tacos are and you still find many of the previous gen Rangers on the road.

That said resale value on those things stunk so if you keep your truck for a short while the Taco will hold value better, if you drive it into the dirt then the Ranger isn't bad. Not sure about the engine/trans on the new one but technically it is an older model made in Asia and Europe for quite a while so it should be reliable... still I would never buy the 1st year of any new model.

Had been meaning to go test drive the new Ranger.

One last quibble on the new Ranger and Ridgeline, they look kind of girly to me where the Taco is more burly like an F150 Raptor.

    Isn't the turbocharger good for only 100k, then it's a $$$ repair ?

3"lift toytech pelferybuilt front bumper 35"s tires, warrior product roof/bed rack, smitybuilt winch.
I would give the ranger a year or 2 to work out the issues. But on paper looks better. Also if you go to the for website and Toyota tou can build a ranger with rear locker and more features than the tacoma for less. Toyota needs to kick up its game bc They are the most expensive with the least features.

A tundra pro is almost as much as the raptor and its lost every off road comparison they have put it into

Because Reliability and Resale. My other reason is looks. The Taco looks way better than the ranger.

Also ranger is in its first year model...so... yeah. I’d wait a bit.

Well I'm sure you are talking about a crew cab model but an access cab 4 door (2 suicide doors) was available and the model I had with 2 really small sideways seats in the back. Could fit a small adult (unhappily).

I don't hate the Tacoma. The Ranger is just a better vehicle. I don't know what else there is to say. My Tacoma is paid for, and I have plenty of cash. If anything, I could probably sell my Tacoma and buy a ranger without having to fork-up any cash. Might even come out ahead due to the Ranger being so cheap with rebates.

I feel like I should at least get the OVtune with Dump-pipes package before I give up on Manual Tranmission. It's probably going to be one of the last Manual Transmission vehicles to ever be sold in America.

I am unapologetic about my effort to be a supreme example of an objective person. My opinion changes based on new facts and changing circumstances.

Sometimes I am definitely wrong, like in the case of the Emergency lights. However, I can course correct without being chained to my own ego. It's a state of mind that most people can rarely attain.
