It does seem that belt slip is more of an issue the faster it turns. I can see the boost going up and slipping down on my snow gauge and its most noticeable at wot in high rpms

If it is the member from XRU, in days long past, that was Sparkys Tacoma. Blew his stock engine. Also adapted an automatic into his XR. Built another engine, did massive Intake plenum porting, and dropped psi down from 16 to ~9. Plus had headers etc.

Remember though, that tiny aftercooler gets saturated pretty damn quickly, with all stock cooling components, and boost that high. Meth, or increase the size of the aftercooler. ( Internal to the s/c)

My strategy will be to get snakebite, do extensive porting, and then put a smaller pulley on to bring boost back up to 16.

 

Don't chase numbers bud. I know it's tough because it's sort of a bragging rights thing, but just remember, your 13 or 14 psi after all the airflow mods could beat the same dude who is 13 or 14 psi next to you.

I'm actually offended you think I'm chasing numbers for bragging rights. Well I'm not really offended, since I guess I am chasing numbers to an extent. But if I want to chase a number, why shouldn’t I? Someone has to do it.

I am the first one to know that boost doesn't equal power or ability to win a race. If I thought that way, I would have blown my engine ages ago. I'm certain my truck's barely noticeably faster than people running 2.3 pulleys on here. My friend got a 94 tune on his NA x-runner and he's as fast as me now. Significant weight advantage, smaller tires, better aerodynamics go a long way. It makes me a bit frustrated given the money and work I've put into the truck. But I remind myself they're completely different vehicles.

It's definitely an exercise in diminishing returns when you go smaller than 2.3, that's something I've learned. Airflow is getting pretty limited when you start boosting that high on stock everything. So saying I make 16psi isn't really bragging anyways.
