i was wondering how far you had to go in order to find it or how long you had to look... i can't imagine or even want to ask about how much OT you had just to get this true gem..i miss my '88 2wd everyday...seeing yours only brings back great memories.. i'm more of purest when it comes to old trucks so all original is my preferred way to view them...got any plans for it? other than fight off every person who sees it and asks how much to sell.....enjoy it man

I always casually look on craigslist but I got serious when I missed out on an '87 4Runner 2 miles from my house - I mean I was really upset at myself for not acting on that one sooner - 153k miles, 5 speed for $2500. But everything happens for a reason, right? It took about 3 months until I stumbled on the ad for this one. I liked that this one was used daily, well taken care of, in one piece, 100% original and in classic 033 Toyota white. The seller was really cool but I don't think he could quite understand why I'd want to by a 33 year old (classic??) truck and ship it back across country. In my mind though, I knew the shipping cost and leap of faith buying off craigslist was just the cost of doing business for these rigs when you're on the East Coast. Common sense and a few rules can net you a very positive experience, which is exactly what I had. I can't express my gratitude enough to the seller for also taking that leap of faith - in the end, he was ecstatic that it was going to a very good home as it was in his family for the last 18 years.

Every time I'm out people are asking about it. I've been tempted to do a BJ spacer lift and AAL, but quite frankly its too original to mess with and the factory height and stance is quite aggressive for such a small truck. I've got original 15x7 SR5 wheels that I'm debating mounting on the BFG 31's just so it can be closer to factory fresh.

This is another one of my favorite pics - not because of the quality and background, but it does a good job of showing just how nice the white paint came up after a polish and wax. The paint was really flat, but all there. Note the driver's window surround half/chrome and half/black. The black had worn away over the years so I remedied that with a couple of nice coats of plasti-dip. Looks factory now.
