Curious as to the accuracy of the instant fuel mileage gauge. It’s very close to what the factory unit shows for between 0-30mpg. But after that I am unsure.

Situation: I have a long downhill drive when leaving home heading to town. I usually just let it coast not stepping on the gas at all. Tonight I was feathering the pedal, to my surprise the mpg shot up and maintained until I let off. Every time I feathered it go back up. I am wondering if the Atkinson has anything to do with this and is active when on light throttle but not zero throttle. Also to note when off the throttle my AF ratio would go up to 18.

That's one that I really wish I had. Big thanks to @Tacoma3rdGen for sorting me out on gauge building. I was able to go back and fit a few more items on my screen without it being too cluttered, and the only thing I wish that I could display is the oil pressure. Using his instructions I've been able to set up the overlapping gauges and if you're patient you can get them to line up to effectively double the gauges you can have without making them too small to read or where they interfere with everything.
Using an iPhone XS Max and no issues running multiple BT apps while reading the OBD.

Personally, I've never seen mpg improve with light throttle, and I would be pretty surprised if that was accurate.
In my testing with this truck, coasting in neutral is your best bet for mpg.

Is the app more accurate for MPG? The app is saying I’m getting 1 more mpg than the truck indicates.

I think the truck ecu uses mass air flow to report MPG. Is that the same thing selected in the PID?

No clue. I just use the trip fuel economy selection on the app.

I'm using the OBD Fusion app on an iPhone with the Carista dongle. The app randomly loses connection to the dongle. I've tried various settings to resolve this unsuccessfully. Does anyone have any tips?

Only to download the base app and Toyota PIDs to your phone. It will connect via blutooth to an OBDII scanner, I like the Kitbest from Amazon.

    Thanks!
The bluetooth on my generic reader finally started to die, so I just got an OBDLink LX, and the faster read speed allowed me to go back to this full layout.

I have Veepeak OBDCheck BLE and run OBD Fusion with an iPhone XR. I cannot get any of the fuel PIDs to work. Has anyone experienced this issue? Work around?

What is the consensus on a good OBD scanner/driver that works well with iOS? For running obd fusion on an ipad? I would like one that has auto sleep so it doesn’t drain the battery, that is a must.

This is the one I went with.

As far as battery drain, anything you leave plugged into the OBD port will drain a little. But day to day it's very minimal.

From mfg website.:"You can leave the Bluetooth models plugged in if you are driving the vehicle frequently. Depending on the battery condition, if you leave your car sitting for days to weeks, we recommend that you remove the OBD2 device."

Anyway, it works perfectly with Fusion. I just Unplug it if I know it's going to go for a couple of days without running.

Thanks for the reply, that is good to know. I did see one model that claimed to go to “sleep” but it did not support iOS. My truck does sit in the garage for days or weeks at a time as I drive my car mostly. But I can just pull it out as a work around.
