I still want the 4 pack combo though. I’d probably buy the 4 pack if they had it on sale right now

Recently got back from a trip in Alaska and have 50-60lbs of Halibut filets I need to find different ways of cooking. Anyone have experience with Halibut? Does not have to be smoked.

I have never done anything with Halibut and starting at ground zero.

Figures, I just bought the Mk4 for 20% off bit more than a week ago :annoyed:

Review? Just buy the damn thing can't believe I waited so long. The Thermopop's are still going camping with me and get some use. But the Mk4 is so easy to use, and the back light works the way the thermopop should. And the Mk4 is easy for old eyes to read...

The silicone boot for it was also worth it.

My meater+ was annoying me yesterday -- claiming signal loss about any time I walked between the probe and charger (~12 ft apart) or charger and the old android tablet I was using with it. Handy as heck on a rotisserie though.

IMHO the Javelin Pro Duo is still a better bang for the buck.

Has the lanyard loop that Thermoworks removed from the thermapen, plus it has a magnetic back so it's simple to keep on the side of the fridge or microwave. Also has a "hold" function that'll beep when the reading is locked in and keep it on the display until you let go. Having tried mine with a buddy's mk4 the read speeds are the same. Accuracy difference is +/- 0.7F vs +/- 0.9F per website specs. Maybe that'd make a difference to Walter White, but not for BBQ.

I smoked some fresh salmon from Lake Ontario for a guy from work. I used Pecan wood for 3 of the pieces and 3B42123A-5AA1-4B27-AF2C-5E7CD18CB2EE.jpg 988C43D2-8571-4E5B-9459-7147D11B3D52.jpg Bourbon wood for 4 pieces.

Let me know how you like it. I've had mine a couple years and it's been rock solid. (FWIW I also have a Thermopop, which I don't really like that much but find it's handy to have a spare so I've kept it)
