I’m now officially a YouTube content “creator”. Haha.
No really, I know some asked for a video. @bs2000 maybe?
    Anyways, I tried my best.

Hope this helps with any of the shroud questions that are a little hard for me to explain in writing. @ace7196

Hahaha. I don’t think I’ll make many more.
Uploaded some years ago but I’m more into photography than videography and I hate to hear myself talk.

Wutttup Fan Boyz... Hopping on here as a fan girl for a sec to provide some info some of you might be interested in. Got a dometic fantastic fan installed. I have it reversed like Zayne. I've been at 85mph for a good stretch and it has not blown open (although I like the lock feature on zayne's). Anywho, none of that is important.. what is important is I have the 3inch mattress and now a side door with the old tent material. It all closes. Thought some of you might want to know that. Enjoy your fans.. the breeze... and no condensation. At some point on my trip I'm gonna cover those wires nicely. IMG_20190713_172507.jpg MVIMG_20190713_172520.jpg ..

I would strongly recommend you make up some kind of fairing for the fan.
Trust me, under the right conditions it WILL get flipped open. You don't want to have that happen at the beginning of a trip or something and have to figure out how to deal with the issue then.

Besides that, nice job on the install.

I didn't do the install. I just wired it. I'm on the road so not so easy for me to make one.

I don't believe I asked for the video but definitely appreciated it. Nice job on the video 2ayne. Your better at making video than you think you are.

This might be obvious to some, but I overlooked it..

The mattress (2”) is 2 layers of foam, and the blue is the softer layer. I just found that my 2 large panels I actually had the mattress upside down.

I flipped them over and put the fitted sheets back on. Definitely more comfortable now. And I still have the 1” latex mattress topper at home that I need to trim to size.

We didn't use the nice cover thing and the lowest part would be the big knob to turn on. I don't have measuring tape with me on this trip (although I should add it because I've needed it before). But here is a pic with a $5 bill. Hope it helps. Looks like it is just before the 'S' in "dollars" so about an inch. I've accidentally closed things like a big light in here before (and didn't puncture that ceiling thank goodness). that's how I knew this would close up. and maybe my mattress is somewhat compressed a little since I'm in it basically nightly, but I doubt anything significant if it is. and this was night 2 with fan and I sleep like a baby because it's like white noise and drowns out the damn birds chirping at 4am and the grizzlies sniffing around the truck.1563115007377478750686038035988.jpg

Ok refresh my memory folks. Why aren't you using or trying the fantastic fans which companies like FWC use?

Ok next thing to design and add is an outdoor kitchen when you open a side panel. Might be hard with the cage design of the GFC.

I recommend you get a tape measure for your trip.
The reason I didn’t do the Fantastic was because the Maxxfan Mini has dual lifting arms on the lid, manual lock on the lid, 1/2” lower profile, is cheaper to the comparable Fantastic model.
Both have the same 14x14” footprint, same 900cfm rating.

Also it looks like the Fantasic fans wiring comes out of the opposite side that I wanted it to come out on when mounted backwards.

Also we’re mounting fans backwards so that the rain cover/lid doesn’t create V to the sky when opened incase it rains.
Also the the Fantastic has a higher probability of being ripped open mounted backwards imo due to the lid not locking and only a single lifting arm.

Thinking about ordering a mattress topper before I head out to get my camper in a couple weeks but I have a few questions. How is the closing of the tent with the topper, what size did you get, what firmness? I will be spending two weeks in it right away so I'd prefer to get it before we leave if possible

I haven’t gotten a chance to trim mine to size and try it in the camper yet. But hopefully I can find some time this week to do that.

And this is the topper I have- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UYG8UIE

I have the 2”, which also it turns out I had the mattress panels upside down. Never thought about the fact that in the 2 layers of foam, one layer is softer.

But today I trimmed the topper and tried it out.. definitely more comfortable. I can’t wait for my next trip.

And I added a 12v/USB power supply in the tent. Just industrial strength Velcro to the roof.
