Looking at some input on a new set of tires. I’m mainly trying to decide between the Nitto Ridge Grappler, Cooper s/t maxx’s, and the Cooper stt pro’s. I’ve been searching through tw lately and I’ve been seeing really good review on the stt pro’s, but I’m still leery of them having road noise, possibly mpg loss being so aggressive. I can’t find that many reviews on the s/t maxx’s, and I’ve been seeing good things about the Ridge grapplers too. Can anyone throw in their first hand experience with any of them? Road noise? Handling? Tread life? Winter (snow/ice) performance? I will be running 265/70/17

My vote is for the Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx. They’re a hybrid MT/AT that wear well and aren’t too noisy.

A bunch of us have 255/85/16s and it’s been a great way to get 33s on a stock 3rd Gen suspension.

If you need a snow capable tire (and don’t want to run a second set of dedicated winter tires) it’s also worth looking at the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S:

I haven’t run the above tires. I’ve been running Nitto G2’s. Personally I have great experience with them. Has them on 1st gen went thru 3 sets there got 60k on each set, pretty quiet , really smooth on highway.

My nephew is running the Nitto grappler. He says they’re great.

I run 35” Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my Jeep. It’s honestly one of the best set of tires I’ve ever owned. They’re quiet compared to the KO2’s I have on the taco. They perform well in the rain for such a large tire and stock pads/rotors. I can’t speak to snow as TN rarely gets any weather than the prerunner can’t handle. I will probably switch the taco over to them once the KO2’s wear out.

They're ALL fantastic when new. I've had Duratrac's, 2 sets of STT PRO's, a set of KM2's, and a set of Geolander M/T's on this truck. Currently have a set of KO2's. (Mix of 265/75r16 and 285/75r16)

Best choice for M/T? The STT PRO's. By far. Just keep ear plugs handy as they reach 1/2 life..... They SCREAM. Hated the KM2's. Geo's were OK.

Like my KO2s now. I was a hater at one point. Then I OWNED a set. Now a fan. Smooth ride, quiet, better gas mileage than M/T's, and pretty damn good in anything but extreme mud. (BTW...I avoid extreme mud these days.... Fastest way I know to kill a truck.....)

With ALL tires on a 4wd....KEEP 'EM ROTATED. Do more often than "needed". Have balance checked every 15 or 20K. When they wear "odd", they get noisy.
