Hello to all of you. I often leave my vehicle in secluded areas for hours at a time. im an outdoorswoman in Oregon. Also I spend time surfing-hiking-biking-and camping sometimes miles away from my beloved truck. My worst fear is if someone stole it. That would be devastating and possibly the end of me as I currently live in my truck. Does anyone know a way I can disable it when I leave her? A fuse I can pull or simple component I can disconnect that would render the truck auto theft proof? Thankyou tacomaworld.com

A hidden kill switch is probably the best & cheapest solution. My aftermarket alarm has a kill switch. It activates when the alarm goes off. My key is chipped too so I don't worry about it. If they want your truck, they will use a flatbed and tow it away.

What I worry about more is somebody breaking into it to steal the stuff inside. I've got glass in my topper, would be a real punch in the gut to have someone smash it and find replacement while out on a trip.

I do camp out of mine but so far I've never left it anywhere for more than 6-8 hours so your concerns are a little different than mine.

Hell, maybe we are just paranoid. I've come across several camps in isolated campgrounds or in the boonies where people have set up a complete campsite, tents, chairs, coolers, etc, and then drove off and left it to go exploring. o_Oo_O:eek:. I guess they depend on the kindness of strangers that all their stuff will be there when they get back. :notsure:

Just remove the main battery fuse. Pretty much turns off all electrical power

Put law enforcement stickers on it and leave 10 most wanted flyers on front seat.

Now the thief is looking for a hand gun on top of trying to steal the truck.

I still haven't gotten around to doing it on my current truck but I had a kill switch on my fuel pump line on my old 1st gen. I think someone posted a how-to on 2nd gens but I'm too lazy to look for it right now.

You could make a quick disconnect for the harness that goes to the immobilizer. Just unplug and no matter what key is used it won’t start.

Otherwise nothing is going to stop someone from towing it off.

Slickest set-up I've seen is a tap on the drivers side window "up" switch. (obviously other functions could work for this). Operates a relay that normally interrupts/opens start signal from key switch. You operate the window raise and turn the key. Otherwise - starter won't cooperate.

I wonder if the "Ring" security system for your house could work in this situation. Or something like it. I don't know how that works but it has to be pretty basic. Power to "Ring" and a smart phone. Something to alert you when someone comes near.

A trained pissed off doberman pincer would do the trick.

'That would be devastating and possibly the end of me as I currently live in my truck.'

Really? I have fishing baits but that does not make me a Bass Pro Shop.

I would be worried about it getting towed off all the time.
