Usually I am eating breakfast in Greenville after about a week in the woods, so almost anything is heaven!

I never tired that place, I'll make it a point to do so!

I'm heading up to Aroostock county in a couple weeks to fish and camp. Will my Firestone Destination LE2s work ok? They're 4 ply and someone said I need 6. No major off-roading, the logging roads.

    Thanks!

Logging roads are essentially graded dirt roads. They can actually be smoother than the paved roads but they can deteriorate quickly with a lack of use, overuse without being graded or if you get off the beaten path. Most any tire will work fine, just be careful to not put yourself in any compromising situations. It should be pretty easy to see poor road conditions that might challenge your tire or truck capabilities. On most all currently active logging roads even regular all season tires should be fine.

Please forgive me if you already know this about traveling on logging roads but logging trucks are big, well loaded, hauling ass and have the right of way. Slow down and move over if you see one coming. The logging roads are left open to the public with the understanding that the public will respect the loggers priority on the roads. You may already know this and if you do great. Just trying to be helpful.

Bring a spare. Bring plugs and glue. A compressor helps too. I like to bring some cut up 2x4 incase I need to adjust for jacking purposes

Baxter State Park is a beautiful place. Returned, yesterday, from there.

I bought my taco from Maine and drove to Colorado in 36hrs. Completely stock, little 4cy, no mods what so ever. I did realize I hated the tacoma seats though, so I do recommend some form of lower back support. Otherwise, an oil change and new break pads should be all you need.

Still formulating the plan! I am looking at the total travel time so that we're not stuck in the truck the entire time. I want to make sure we can relax and do some exploration on foot.

I think we will go out through Pennsylvania. Then work our way north. The wife really wants to see Bar Harbour and Acadia National Forest. So that will be a stop for a night or two (assuming we can get campsite reservations)

It all depends on the distance from that point where we go next...

No kidding! I did the opposite. Only I had my truck shipped back because at the time I didnt want to use the PTO (I should have driven it..)

Yes Acadia NP is beautiful. The carriage roads on a bicycle and sunrise at Cadillac Mtn. Check out the Maine Beer Company near Freeport. My best friend son works for them. I live in Northern Vermont & spend a lot of time in the White Mtns and Western Maine. There is so much to do off the beaten track especially mid week. Weekends get so busy especially the touristy places & the interstates that lead to them like I95 through Portsmouth NH and Maine Toll Booths. Highway 302 through Crawford Notch or the Kancamangus scenic highway off I93 through Franconia Notch can cut out that mess. Plus hiking spots, waterfalls etc. It brings you through gorgeous scenery. Here's some maps.

Hit Acadia mid week, like Tuesday or Wednesday. You will enjoy it so much more than Friday thru Sunday, unless you like the natural experience with a bazillion others. At least during the week there is room to stretch your arms.
