Would it be better to do a block or a AAL? and at how big of a lift?

aal, single might ride pretty stiff unloaded, progressive aals ride nicers but cost a bit more. I went from blocks to a full pack replacement so I cant really give much insight on aals, but blocks do not ride nice.

aals give you roughly 1.5 inches of lift I think.

Alright cool, thank man! One more thing was that, I was gonna get a new set of wheels and tires. Sticking with 16 in wheels. What would be the biggest tire I could run if I stuck with the 2 inch in the front and 1.5 AAL without rubbing?

265/75/16. Some say that you can fit 285/75/16, but I wouldnt risk it unless you're open to a cab-mount-chop. 285s do look better though.

I think the progressive AAL is a good middle ground between a cheap block and a while new leaf pack.

If you're going to get new wheels and tires, get that 16" wheel closer to 0 or negative offset and some 255/85r16s. 33" tires, clears suspension, mileage isn't terrible for 33s, no hacking/cutting. They're a tiny bit narrow for the wheel wells (imo) unless you get a different offset from stock OR wheels. I'm looking at Konig Counterseer 16x8 0 offset.

Do you have any pictures to show what that would look like on the 3rd gen?

I personally dont like the look, people call them "pizza cutters". Too thin for my taste. Heres a thread:

17in will give you more tire options that aren't 10 ply (E rated), at least in 285 sizes. Most will agree that E rated tires are overkill on a tacoma

For more off road use, which one would be better?

If you are asking between 16 and 17 inch wheels, 16 is usually the choice most make. It gives more sidewall on the tires and makes it less likely to hit the wheels on rocks, etc.

Depends on if this is the average pretty boy lift or function is your goal.

How the truck will be loaded, towing possibilities, addition of armor, etc etc.

And lift doesn't really create tire clearance. Wheel fitment does much more in that realm. And lift doesn't raise ground clearance at the axle lines, tires do. Lift does however improve approach and departure angles, as will different bumper configurations.

Point is, knowing how you will use the truck (not what you might do someday) 90% of the time and modding for that will most likely make a better daily use experience for you

If you end up going the 33" (285/70/ 16) route I'd do 17" wheels. If you do 32" (265/75/16) I'd stay 16", looks beefier with more rubber. Just my thoughts

I've aired my e rated k02 tires down to 12psi and had no issues driving over very sharp rocks. I also put 50psi in the back tires with my bike and other stuff in the back with no issues.

Is that a 32 on 16s or a 33 on 17s? How big of a lift was that?
