Found these pretty quick. These are at B&H Photo btw, I used the app and it doesn’t off a link to it.

I actually kinda like the second one better. I like it has the hook under the center section to hang some weight on to further stabilize it. Also looks like a better ball head.

First one is just over your price but it’s carbon fiber. Which may be a tad lighter but I’d be afraid of carbon fiber at that price point. I’m sure that’s why the ballhead only has one adjustment screw instead of one for tension when loose and one to crank it down.

IMO I’d go for the second one of those two. Manfrotto may have something in that price range but what I was seeing didn’t impress me too much.

I wouldn’t even look at the lower end sunpack, velbon or others such as that. But once cry once and you’ll have it for a long time. I spent $270 on mine 5-6 years ago and it’s solid as a rock. I’ve been through numerous low end ones and they suck ($20-70). Go with something with a ballhead and you’ll be glad you did if you’ve never used one before over the old style. They are great!

My last Vegas trip cost me $70 in checked baggage because I brought the tripod. Lol I need to get a travel tripod.

When I got mine I wanted to be able to stand up and not have to extent the center section to take photos so it was as solid as it could be. It’s just cumbersome to travel with. I do love it though.

Old tech takes a photo as good as new tech. I’d still love to have a Nikon D3s and it’s old tech. Better to invest in the glass unless you really need more pixels or low light ability. The glass carries over from camera to camera. Unless you want to jump ship over to Nikon.

Edit: Or your camera doesn’t have the features you want as you advance.

I have the Benro slim carbon fiber, I use it frequently with my spotting scope as well as taking photos, it has a hook fer a counter weight. Ifen I could change something about the setup I would like if the center post could be split in two like my Slik, with the Benro you have to flip the center and run it underneath to get really low, either that or need to make a short adapter

That’s the one I’m talking about.

Could have scored it for pennies on the dollar on Amazon Prime day too but didn’t see it. Bah!

I would have emptied my bank account buying lenses on their screw up.

That’s good to know. Something like that would work for me as a travel tripod. Just what I need is a 4th tripod. :goingcrazy:

I’ve got the Manfrotto that just pulls up and flips out to the side. I really love it but you’re not going to find those at his price point.

    Here’s how mine flips out.
