I would try that first. Especially if your engine seems to run rougher than it did in tje past

 

Rougher, no...

But I am OCD about keeping my truck running right so I'm going to replace them before I go to Carlisle this weekend. Can I do it in my driveway? Should I get Toyota spark plugs or will any brand do?

 

I'm going to change my spark plugs this week. This is something I've never done before, but my friend and former supervisor did it on his 2010 V6 Tacoma and said it was super easy. Should I just get the spark plugs at Pep Boys or Auto Zone?

I have seriously had my Tacoma for almost ten years and had to do ZERO engine work to it. It's also the only vehicle I've EVER owned. Do I need any special tools that I do not have in the garage?

Stick with Denso or NGK.

Toyota recommends copper plugs for the V6; iridium plugs for the I4. I have iridiums in my V6 and have had no plug related issues. I first tried NGK iridiums; I replaced them with 110K miles and were still running well but the ground electrodes were wearing down. I now have Denson iridium Long Life's.

Edit: it don't matter where you get the plugs.

 

What weight oil are you running?

Pretty easy job especially the passenger side, driver side is not bad if you either remove the bracket to the intake manifold or get crafty with some extensions.

Thats the time it takes to crack a 12 pack o beer. Drink 2 while you collect tools, drink a beer per cylinder, and then drink 2 more for a post beer celebration.


The lil 4 banger.... maybe a 30 min job, But yes they the i4 take Iridium plugs.
