I’v never done it before. My mechanic is doing it for $100 and I get to watch and learn, so next time I need spark plugs I’ll do it myself!

The only time I go to the stealership anymore if for Pennsylvania’s stupid yearly inspection and emissions test. The only reason is because they don’t charge me for the safety part of the inspection and I get a free loaner. However, I’m still a bit pissed at my dealer because they didn’t latch the hood properly before giving me back the truck, and then tried to say “the valet must have pulled the hood release thinking it was the parking brake.” My hood started bouncing around as I was merging onto the highway, but there was no damage to the truck so I let it go. However, any competent Toyota person knows that 2nd Gen Tacos with the automatic tranny have “push to release” foot pedal.

This same dealer tried to charge me $1,700 for a full front-only brake job in March 2018 until my neighbor read them the riot act and they reduced it, so I really don’t know what I still go to the fucking place.

Those disc gappers are imprecise crap anyway. Plugs are pregapped, but you can always get a crap one that is out of spec or has a misaligned ground electrode. I take my wire gapper to the store and always check the full set before I pay. 995 no prob usually.

Different plug for different engine, but same tool and concept.

Until you actually post the fuel mileage you're getting you are wasting every ones time.

You ever do the recall on your cats, Charlie? I had mine redone about 3 weeks ago and have seen 1-2 mpg's better.

That being said, its the door dash that's killing you. I did uber eats this past winter and after all the sitting/ stopping and going it just didn't pan out.

My 4x4 2.7 standard gets about 18 on the hiway, and maybe 16 around town after all the mods.

I did mine at 120k as Toyota recommends. Denso irridium's. The old ones definitely needed replacement, but I've seen way worse.

Wont hurt to do them now if you want.

Idling equals bad MPG as you are not moving for the "miles" part therefore only the gallons are moving.

Why did you go back to stock wheels? I havent been in your BS thread lately so i havent heard.

120k miles for plugs!? No. 60k at most or if you get the high end iridium twin tip plugs, 100k at most.

I recommend you inspect and re-gap every 30k as a good rule of thumb; adjusting based on the level of wear you observe. Replace when the electrode can't be reasonably re-gaped or the insulation deteriorates/cracks.

l do most of my driving from our place into town. l have a lot of hills in my area and the highest speed limit is 60kmh (roughly 40mph).

l work out every tank by hand and l usually get right around 15 mpg. If l do a longer trip that is mostly small highways that have a speed limit of 80kmh (50mph) with hills as well. I have l obtained just over 20mpg.

All things considered for my situation. I'm happy with what l get.
Not too many flat sections of highway where l am.

I know what they say. Unless its a twin ground plug, its not realistic. They also say 100k miles for transmission fluid . I don't know what plugs they use but the best I've been able to find are Denso / NKG iridium twin tip which are rated for ~100k.

OP, its 10 minutes to pull a plug. I'll bet a new set of spark plugs that if they are the original plugs, they are in desperate need of a re-gap.

My aunt’s coworker ran a red light while driving to work and people died in the accident. As tragic as it is, that is not the point...

The family of the deceased is trying to sue the coworker’s son because the Jeep she was driving was in his name.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t this seem a bit unfair? How is it the son’s fault?
