Forgive me, but are you cutting both the red and black wires?

Yes, just use the third red wire. Make sure you isolate the red and black after cutting as they are still live 12v and Ground - tape them up individually so there is no chance of a short.

Check out post #97 and 99 in this thread.

Yes, with that particular camera the black/red wire are not needed. Whether you cut them or not is up to you. This picture shows how @chiefjim did his install. After soldering the skinny red wires together, he cut his and sealed it with heat shrink.

Since I used a wiring loom to protect the wire further, I decided to not cut mine, just taped the ends and ran it inside the wiring loom parallel to the RCA cable without connecting it to anything.

    Hope that helps.

Don't cause problems with your install...

It is very important you isolate the wires if you end up cutting them. If the black and red ends touch - IT IS A DIRECT SHORT. Those wires would normally be used for camera power and the extra red lead coming out of the RCA ends would be connected to the reverse lamp to trigger the head unit and allow it to switch to the camera input.
In the case of our trucks, we do not need to use the red and black to power the camera - we back feed it through the red leg coming out of the RCA's. This is the best way to power the camera because it is only on when it's needed and not all the time.

    Just a heads up.

    Thank you. I understand.
If you have XM radio subscription, did you need to reset XM receiver after install?

I did as well. I decided to skip Starbucks the rest of the week and opted for the expedited shipping lol! Strange that nobody keeps them in stock here in the USA.

Or maybe CAN'T keep them in stock in the USA? Then again, you don't lose any money to the middleman if you don't have a middleman to pay.

Dang, I just have missed that. $10 for shipping and a month ETA stinks. Oh well, it’ll get here eventually lol.

I’m actually using this for a rear camera added to the MESO BD4 Cam third brake light. My kids car seat blocks nearly all of the rear view, so in the event I need to check cargo or see what’s behind me, this should come in handy. It will be paired with an eco master pcam-220 if anyone is interested.

International shipping where they list a month away is hit or miss. Sometimes a good comparison is your commute to work if you have to navigate multiple stop lights. On that morning you hit all of them green you arrive way early. All of them red, way late. Most of the time they average out. I think international shipping when they are using containers is the same way. If you hit all the transition points right as the shipment is ready to "go" then it arrives early. If it arrives at multiple destinations and sits for a day or so then it takes awhile longer. My order from them from overseas came earlier than expected. Of course, we are all spoiled now if we have Prime anyways.:playball:

Absolutely. International shipping can definitely be hit or miss. In this case it was definitely way ahead of schedule. Mine came within a week and it went Hong Kong -> California -> Hawai’i.

Got this installed a few days ago. Before buttoning everything up, I made sure a functions worked. Closed up HU and tested again and everything worked still. Now camera turning in when switching to drive works intermittently... more like whenever it wants to lol. Need to check wire connections still, but also looking for any feedback, ideas, etc. Thanks in advance for any help!

Expedited shipping worked in this instance. Ordered on 7/31 delivered 8/2 installed 8/3. Installation was straightforward and camera operation using the steering wheel controls is awesome!. Grid line wire will be getting snipped shortly lol. Thanks for all of the information.
