    EDIT:
It appears the black one is the XM Radio Antenna. The white one is the GPS antenna. I took the white case/plug off which left just the round metal connector on the inside. I had ordered this off Amazon thinking it would plug into the white connector (it doesn't): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MCL8R3G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So cut the blue end off, stripped the wire while keeping as much as the protective/ground layer as possible, then pushing the inner wire into the white female end and made sure the protective/ground mesh wire rested on the metal of the Tacoma plug. Is that confusing enough? Anyway, I have GPS signal without needing to use the puck included in the Joying package. I'm still looking for a more elegant/plug and play solution, but this works.

Also, like many others, they didn't include the USB cable, so I'm waiting on that. And further, my truck is the JBL package, so I have the rear fade issue just like the rest. I have been emailing back/forth with Joying support and found a spot on their website that mentions a JBL harness, but they don't mention where to get it from.

Thanks for bringing this unit to our attention and letting us hijack your thread with Q's and feedback @5nahalf!

Did you fix this? You need to go into the Bluetooth settings, change the name of the unit and the passcode (default is Joying and 0000 respectively). When you do that, you can then unplug the bluetooth OBDII dongle and give it a couple seconds, plug it back in and then press the spy glass on the Joying unit. It should pop up as an option to pair. That's how I got mine working this afternoon.

Joying has basically told me the fading will never work. Let me know if you get anywhere with joying and the JBL Harness. Since you have the same setup as me I was wondering if you are experiencing any audio drop. Every 5-10 mins my audio, whether it be radio, MP3, Spotify, etc, will drop for a few seconds and pick back up. Other forums seem to think its the JBL amp over heating. I have not confirmed or ruled that out yet as I am patiently waiting for a response about the JBL harness.

Yes! I am getting the drop in audio at random. I was going to reply to my open ticket with Joying to see if they know or have any suggestions why it's doing it. It does it whether I'm in the radio or streaming from Amazon. Annoying, but even with this and the fading issue, I like it better than the stock entune unit. I'll report back here if I find anything or find a fix.

Thanks - someone posted on Amazon for that same kit that it does not work on a 2018 Tacoma. I did find an adapter that is referenced in the Alpine Halo9 head unit, but haven't found a part # yet. If/when I do and the price is reasonable, I may order it up and see what's what.

Weird. Maybe the '18s are different, but those antenna adapters worked for my aftermarket headunit. I'm using the OEM sharkfin for GPS and satellite radio.

Edit: on Crutchfield a dude says it works fine on 2018 Tacoma. Iunno.

Yeah I thought that was pretty cool. I really do like this unit. I just can’t see keeping it if every 10 mins or so the audio drops for a few seconds. It starts to become a pain in the butt. I sent them a picture of what the back of our stock Unit looks like. Hopefully they can figure something out. I am also on the XDA-developers forum and haven’t seen anyone with this issue. I am thinking it’s definitely a radio to JBL amp issue with just Tacoma’s.

It’s weird because one person states it did not work for their 2018 Tacoma and another person says it worked perfectly on their 2017 Tacoma. The picture listed on both Amazon and Crutchfield appears to have the matching end. I think I may grab this so I don’t have what seems like 20ft of gps cable stacked behind my dash for the plug in puck antenna that came with the unit.

I got the same email that the harness is appropriate for the JBL unit. I previously provided them with a picture of the back of the stock JBL entune unit.

I'm going to order it with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071FGB6Y9/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A8GRJU0V6WTPX&psc=1 so it'll screw into the back of the Joying unit. Will report back in a couple days.

It for sure worked on my truck. So that's something I guess. You can always send it back to Amazon if for some reason it doesn't work.

I ordered it. Fingers crossed it fits. Now I get to feel like my wife and stalk the UPS and Amazon drivers until it gets here on the 2nd.

As for the OBD2 issue, turns out the head unit is only compatible with the cheaper ELM327 style OBD2 and I had a nicer one that would not work.

Ordered a $10 OBD2 and was able to connect to the head unit but the Torque app wouldn’t pick it up. I had to uninstall and reinstall Torque for it to work.

    All good now.

And the Anytime Backup Camera works with this head unit.
