I just barely kinda sorta STRIPPED THE LIFE out of the tailgate bracket screw.......

    ...
Anyone have any useful ideas? Ive already beat my self up over it....now what do I do?

Only the one on the right is stripped....at least I stopped after I did it to one.
I basically changed the molecular structure of the metal

Any help would be greatly appreciated before I fuck this thing up worse

Slot it with a dremmel and use a large flathead screwdriver.

I think the gat comes off any how lower down there should be a slot where one end pulls outward kinda in a 45 degree angle I think the pass side. Then u can cut a slot in the screw bolt and use a impact screwdriver to remove it. I’d cut slots with a die grinder I’ve done it just gotta have control so you don’t massacre your gate lol. That or weld a nut/bolt to it and remove that way. Good luck ...

Take the gate off to have more space. Find a bit bigger size torx head and hammer it in there.

Too late now, but a impact driver is your friend.

Bought this Craftsman one over 30 years ago. It's served me well.

Those damn bolts that soft? I've been meaning to remove the same one you mutilated.

Yeah 1/4” drive is a bad plan. An extension is also a bad plan.

If slotting it doesn’t work you can use a broken screw extractor. Helps get stripped screws out too.

    ......um........yes?

I have an SBR M4 with some LAP 5.56x45mm 62gn rounds but I figured that would obliderate the entire tailgate hingeand send shrapnel fuck knows where..... so I used monkey tools and did slightly less damage.

And you think that'll give me enough leverage to grip abs screw and get it out?

Worst case drill it out. Because of the shape of the head, if you put the right size drill bit in it, it’ll act like a rivet when drilled. Leave threads showing to grab onto as well.
