You might have to. I just checked mine and my "parking assist" was "enabled" under my maestro settings.

It's 10x better than the stock speakers. I usually keep the volume around 13-15, 20-22 when I'm feel like jamming and it packs a nice punch.

    None....So Far
Very nice post on your installation. I have a couple questions I was hoping you could answer.
    1) Were able to reuse the factory microphone for phone calls and voice control?
    2) Were you able to use all of the factory wiring without cutting off the plugs with the Maestro RR kit?
    3) Does the factory harness for the rear camera plug in directly to the HU or does it adapt through the Maestro wiring?

I'm trying to cut as little of the factory wiring as possible. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

There is zero cutting of factory wiring when using the RR

As for the factory mic, this is the only thing I’ve seen (for any vehicle) but the thread seems dead

I finished the install and I love the wireless CarPlay. The navigation is also super slick!

I am, however, having trouble getting the rear camera and the steering wheel controls to work. Did anyone encounter this problem? I also have a front camera that I’d like to hook up. Any advice helps.

When you flash your maestro u have to select none for options on the right side steering wheel buttons. i had an issue when i chose different commands certain buttons. so i used default for left side buttons and selected none for all the buttons on the right side. everything works for me. the rear camera had no issues

I remember being proactive and doing some customization. Thanks for the tip! Do you remember which port you plugged your Backup camera into? The harnessCrutchfield sent had two conflicting inputs that were similarly labeled.

Yes. The wiring harness I got had a yellow 3.5mm cable and I was told this goes into the unit but I also got a wiring diagram that it connects partly to the Maestro.

Hopefully this diagram can help others.

I just did a complete AVIC w8400NEX install on a 3rd gen 2018 Tacoma LTD with JBL. The above info was extremely helpful.
One thing that was a bit confusing was the discussion about the data cable from the Maestro RR to the head unit. There were some posts about the yellow cable which is for Kenwood and the 3.5 jack going into the port marked W/R on the back of the unit. Disregard that whole discussion. Here is what I got from Maestro tech support. The only cable that you need from the Maestro RR package is the black data cable. It's a 4 prong cable that plugs into the Maestro RR and goes into the 4 prong slot in the back of the 8400.

anyone having issue with the steering wheel controls working intermittently. It happens to me maybe once a week but once i shut off truck and restart it works again? The HU is updated to 1.01 and the maestro is updated also.

I'm planning to upgrade my factory HU soon. I've been reading throughout the forum. But still not sure what wiring harness, connectors etc that I will need.

AVIC-W8400NEX has been discontinued. So gonna go with 8500.
So far these are the things I will need:
    - Scosche Dash Kit
    - Maestro RR
    - T01 Wire Harness
    - 28-Pin Wiring Harness Jumper/Adapter

I'm not sure what other wiring harness I need. My Taco have standard radio and no GPS.
I look up Crutchfield and seems confusing.

Thanks in advance if any body can assist me.

the install is fairly easy, hardest part is cramming all the wires into the dash

Metra 40-LX11 - Antenna Adaptor Cable

    AXXESS AX-TOYUSB - USB-Aux

    Maestro HRN-RR-TO2

Maestro Acc-SAT-TO2 (only for Factory Gps & satellite radio) if you don’t have that option you don’t need because you will be running the headunit supplied gps antenna and xm antenna

i purchased from Amazon. and i got the 8400 from Ebay brand new for $700 with xm radio tuner

I installed the AVH 501 EX which has alot of the features minus Carplay. Great sounding unit

I am also having steering wheel control issues. Crutchfield is sending a new Crux interface to see if this resolves my issue.

I ended up having no luck with crux or the meastro they sent. Sent it back for a full refund. Now I am on the hunt for a new HU. Not sure if I should try Kenwood or Stay with Pioneer.....

I've been looking at a 4400nex/4500nex for a long time, Thinking it's the most logical option from pioneer. It has wireless carplay, which is a plus. but if you're really on a budget this seems like one of the better ones https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/alpine-ilx-w650.595016/ but it only has wired carplay
