@cynicalrider, I was gonna give you my black leather boot but after picking up one of these but I just read on the product page that you need that metal rod at the base of it for it to work. :sorry:

Still have the black one? :spy:

Not sure whether vinyl dye would work, but for some reason black is my go to color for interior panels. :notsure:

I've always hated that the shifter boot and the shifter always had a gap showing some shift rod too. Anyone else feel this way?

Kind of an old style look huh? My 08 has a boot that goes all the way to the the knob - guess someone agrees with you at Toyota and wanted to modernize the truck.

I prefer a shorter shifter. The height of it feels like I’m driving an old school manual bus haha! If I get an extra shifter it may get shortened a couple inches to find out if the length really makes a huge difference.

The URD short throw shifter won't help with this right? That is just throw distance but not actual height? Maybe I'll lower mine and then do a short throw too. Just a matter of cutting some material out and welding it back together.

*A quick google says short throw raises it, so it seems I should get the short throw shifter first, then lower the shifter length*

The irony is it makes the shifter taller lol. Yeah a short shifter just shortens the throw. I spend more time in neutral while I’m shifting than most people apparently for some reason so I don’t care for a short shifter - that said I have one from the previous owner and perhaps may experiment with it by using it in conjunction with a cut and welded shaft like you’re talking about - I think if you welded a different size bolt on top it would open up a bigger range of shift knobs too.

Yes but I’m in Mexico for three more weeks. It wouldn’t have the metal rod that secures it to the base but you could use your old one.
