Is it considered a TRUE dual exhaust coming from one muffler??

Yes, it was my understanding of dual exhaust that the headers do not combine into one muffler then split into two tale pipes. True dual, each side of the header runs to its own muffler.

The majority of our "True Dual" Cat-back Exhaust systems that offer a dual muffler set up (one off the left manifold and one off of the right manifold) will be on early and late model hot rods such as Mustang's, Charger's, Camaro's, etc. These types of systems will also incorporate an H or X-pipe to connect the two sides. I have not seen this design on any of our dual exhaust systems for late-model trucks, regardless of the manufacturer or model. We do not recommend to have a muffler run separately from each manifold without the two being connected somehow. If the system is designed to run a single muffler from each manifold without being connected together then you will have separate exhaust pulses that are driving each muffler, the corresponding exhaust note will not be favorable. The majority of modern-day truck exhaust systems will meet into a Y or H-pipe prior to the muffler and split off from there. For all of your exhaust needs or questions please contact us at 707-544-4761.

I know I'm late to the party, but my .02 is that Flowmaster exhaust is great for American V8's but I've never heard a V6 sound good with them. Again just my opinion and I love the Flowmasters on my big block but not sure they have their place in a Tacoma...

Due to the design of the smaller displacement V8's that Toyota uses, a highly aggressive muffler such as a 40 Series Original may produce an odd sound on these Tacoma's. That is why we offer some "Straight-through" style mufflers such as the dBX or our new FlowFX muffler. This style of muffler is also used on our Cat-back Systems such as the Force II. We recognize that each application has its own quirks so we make every effort to test a number of muffler options when designing a Cat-back or Axle-back system while keeping performance in mind. I have included a link below to the Flowmaster Cat-back System for your Tacoma so you can hear the exhaust tone that we were able to achieve on a late model Tacoma.

2014, URD y pipe, 40 series, single in dual out following stock location, sounds great. American Muffler in Lauderhill did a great job with the install.

I previously had a Flowmaster dual system on my 15' V6, wasn't impressed with the sound or performance. Also, the rear driver's side hanger didn't line up correctly and kept coming loose when I would go off road. However, I did like the appearance of the dual tips.

Switched to a Magnaflow 3" single tip system when I installed the Magnuson SC about two years ago, much more aggressive sounding and improved performance. But the chrome on the tip turned brown after a year.

Since then, I've had JBA Long Tubes, the URD y-pipe and cam gears installed and the noise is ungodly to the point where it is almost obnoxious

Aside from the unrelenting drone, its pretty amusing to see the puzzling look on peoples faces whenever I get on it. Oh, and I've been told it shoots flames when shifting gears on a 4WD launch

Add a small muffler after the ypipe, like a borla xr1. Kills the drone, thats the answer people in your situation have used for years on these trucks.
