Update: I've emailed Joying and they've supplied a basic diagram of "Your Car Plug -> Third Party Harness -> Joying Head Unit". Since that causes other things to not work (steering wheel controls, "car info", back-up camera), I've asked if they can supply a diagram to their harness so I can single out the wires that control the amp and speakers. I'll just re-pin those with the harness wires and leave the rest of the Joying harness alone and see if that stops the cutting out while providing steering wheel controls and everything else.

Thanks for looking into this! I just got a Tacoma and I've been reading thru this whole thread about this being compatible with the JBL system. I'm just waiting for someone to figure out all the issues before I pull the trigger on these!

Yeah, found that out Saturday. It helped but still pretty crappy.
Might just go back to the stock camera as it was a better viewing camera, the fisheye/widescreen of the Natika and the mounting angle is not ideal. I’ll use the Natika one for the front though.

Also heard back from Joying on this issue and the CarPlay music vs phone call volume. They pretty much can’t help with either issue.

No. 3 different back/forth emails where I was consistently explaining I wanted to understand their wire harness and which ones controlled the rear speakers and amp (I know which controls the fronts). I'm not sure if its a language barrier thing or if they just don't want to give it to me due to Intellectual Property concerns, but they never answer that question. In the meantime, I've got the entune unit back in and my dome lights work with the door open again, so that's something at least!

Alright guys, some update from my end.

I ended up getting a jetpack from verizon as it was cheaper to just add that onto my plan instead of getting a SIM card for the device. It works just fine so far, going to try to hardwire the jetpack into the glovebox or something. HU has been working fine otherwise -- just waiting for my USB cable to arrive. Does anyone know how to remove the apple "accessibility dot" on the screen? you know, the little white dot that you can click on to expand to show some options?

Lastly, looking for input (ha ha pun intended) on an amplifier -- those of you who are running this HU and an amp....how are you wiring it? S/PDIF direct out? RCA? speaker line? I admit it is approaching the end of my knowledge with it.

If anyone has any questions or wants and pictures/videos of install, let me know. I'm happy to help out.

Its a app thats on there, I forget what its called, but its near the end of the list of apps installed. Open it, and it gives you options to turn it off.

Cool, I will investigate. I looked into it a bit but couldn't find anything.

I've still been looking into this, but don't have a lot of time (3 kids ages 5 and under). I found this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2016-tacoma-wiring-diagram.534041/ which at post 12 (thanks @splitbolt) there's wiring diagrams for the JBL system. I thought I had it figured out that N25 is the major, flat connector that has most of the Joying canbus functions associated with it. There are some JBL/speaker components as well because when plugged into the Joying unit and the Axxess unit plugged into the rear speaker connector (blue connector) I still get the cut-out of sound.

So if anyone can take a look at that and help me understand the main wiring harness (based on the PDF, I believe it to be an N25), I'd appreciate it. I believe I have this much of it figured out:
    Pin 3: Accessory Power
    Pin 16: Mute
    Pin 7: Volume +
    Pin 8: Volume -

But you can consider this suspect. Without a legend, it's something of a guess.

If i have this stock head unit, do i need a new bezel to get the Joying unit to fit?

And would I need the WITH or WITHOUT Canbus?

Yes and you need canbus version.
Update -after reading the latest feedback of the Dasaita unit, it seems that you need to buy also a dongle for the iPhone and also another adapter for the TPMS.

The app is Called touch assist or assistant, can’t remember which. As soon as you open it you can disable button.

I got the joying and can only get very low sound out of the tweeters, rear speakers and sub. Have the jbl in the truck. I've had two other vehicle with android headunit and upgraded oem audio and was plug and play with factory amp. Hitting the amp button in the settings doesn't do anything. Says not available. Think it's not triggering the amp. Anyone get anywhere with these

    @Riotfunk
I had success with the Maestro TYTO-02 unit, but was unhappy that I lost steering wheel controls and the car info stuff. So I'm going to get this:
Maestro ADS-MRR Universal Radio Replacement and Steering Wheel Interface https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4W1644/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Y5XvDbTTGA71K

And the Toyota harness. It's programmable via a Toyota firmware and according to most reports, is the cat's meow.

Here's the harness in case you want to take the plunge before me:
Maestro HRN-RR-TO2 Plug and Play T-Harness for TO2 Toyota Vehicles https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K02TMKQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_d8XvDbNZVJX14

Let me know how it works out with those. Guess I'll wait and see. After you get it.

I got it working with the jbl system and without any other add-ons, trimming. Turned amp on and started working. Weird cause yesterday was grayed out. Everything works, steering, vehicle info. Now to get rid of that dot and figure how to switch on the video in for front cam

All working just still low sound, at max 36 is like oem 36. Changing input volume in settings doesn't do anything whether on one or ten, in any input. Get no sound until 10 then it does work. Sounds clear. Just not loud. Also can someone link the right mcu update. If you change the input settings, you have to restart the headunit. The px5 chipset ones used to restart as you exited the settings. Have to manually do it on these

It'll work for a while, but the sound will cut out every 10 minutes or so. Running theory in the thread is the JBL system is 2ohm and the head unit is 4. That's why the Maestro device is needed.
