I’ve got the anytime backup camera mod and lately I’ve noticed sometimes in reverse the backup camera doesn’t display on the radio. It’s a plug in kit so I didn’t mess with any factory wires for it. I did it after about a month or so and I have no clue if this is part of the trucks issue or maybe the anytime backup camera. If I cycle through gears a few times the camera will pop up.

Anyone else have an issue like this?

Have you tried to remove the mod and see if it works every time?

I’d try removing the mod and seeing it if works.

I can’t get it to do it is the problem. It just does it randomly. I’ve gone months with no issue then one day it’ll happen a few times and then back to normal use. So far I’ve found no rhyme or reason and am unable to replicate the issue.

Kinda hard to check since after I put it park and then change it the camera will come back on. I know the light on my switch always comes on.

I’ve tried it both ways. I can’t recreate the problem to see narrow down the issue. It seems like it’s just the head unit acting out because the switch light acts up showing the camera is active just doesn’t show up.

A few days ago my head unit reset itself a few times while trying to put a call on BT.

Can you recall if you ever disconnected the negative battery cable for whatever reason and the problem with camera started after that?

Have you ever updated the software on your head unit? The newer software fixes the Bluetooth crashes

Is your truck manual or automatic?

Might have something to do with the shift position sensor and nothing at all to do with the mod.

I have updated it but now that you’ve mentioned it that was quite some time ago.

I don’t think it’s the mod either because it’s not that I’m not getting an image it’s that the head unit is doing nothing. I unpluged the wires and at least then when it’s in reverse the screen goes blank to switch to “camera” mode.

This was the issue in my brothers truck. The easy way to tell is to see whether or not the reverse lights come on. If they don’t, it’s the sensor

Ohh I didn’t even think of that. I will have to check for those next time it happens. Guess I’ll be using that parking brake. Did he get it fixed easy?

His is a manual transmission, there’s a sensor in the side of the transmission that you just pop out and put in a new one. I assume the auto is something similar. It was like $30

Might just check the connector first.

All connections are solid and firm. Seems to be like another user pointed out and the truck isn’t sensing I’m in reverse. I’m getting power to the camera but the radio doesn’t know to put on the camera.

Im thinking a loose connection for tge rear camera or else power. Then again it could be the switch. Just cuz it lights up does not mean it actually switches. I bought the old system where we had to split the connections. Had a problem with rear because i didnt crimp the split good enuf. Either way, you can always call the owner and he can help you troubleshoot. He was friendly when i called him on thanksgiving

Any idea where that sensor would be?
