I've been looking for a M100/M416 trailer for a while, and this one finally popped up near me for sale. The body is solid, has a few holes to fix where things had been mounted to it in the past, but no rot. The frame is in great shape, and the running gear is all functional.

I'm stripping off the existing running gear, going to replace it with a Timbren Axle-less setup and 3500# hubs to get a 6x5.5 lug nut pattern to match the truck.

I'll have the frame and body media blasted, and the holes in the body patched up, prior to repainting everything (I'm currently looking at Steel-It coatings for both).

I'm going to replace the lights with LEDs.

I'm going to build a hinged lid for it which will also be the base for my RTT to mount on.

This one has a rotating lunette eye, so I'll keep that and get a pintle hitch for the truck.

The original landing gear is in great shape, so assuming that the new axle/tire combo doesn't lift it higher than stock, I'll keep that and probably add a couple of stabilizers to the back corners.

Yes, they would. If I can grab 'em when I have the funds I will, otherwise I'll probably end up with new ones.

Somewhere along the line, a decision was made, to build, or perhaps refresh the hardware used on the M416, with all stainless steel. If I knew who made this decision, I'd buy them a beer. Not a single stuck fastener in the whole thing. Today I stripped the old running gear off of the frame because I'm replacing it with a new set of Timbren axle-less suspension like @Skierrichy did with his build.

Seriously, even the small stuff holding the wire management clips to the frame were stainless. Detroit, Tokyo, and Stuttgart, could all learn a lesson from the guys who did this.

This is probably going to slow down for a bit. The wife and I are in the process of moving up to Vermont for her new job. We're up in Lake Placid this weekend and will be looking at houses in the Montpelier area all next week.

Brandon dropped by with some goodies for me last night. Awesome guy, wish I'd had a bit more time to chat, but I just got home from a day of travel to VT and back for the house inspection.
Thanks for grabbing these, @CttAznRanger. It's going to look awesome to have the wheels on the trailer match the truck. Now I'm considering having the whole thing painted BRM for ultimate matching, when the build is done.

I want to do something like this just because. I have no use or need for a trailer but I like tinkering.

Good news is that my new garage is already wired with a dedicated 100A panel (my current garage has no electricity) which means that with a little bit of work, I can add a 220V/50A outlet and have a place to run my MIG and plasma cutter. I don't have much experience with either, but I have used both in the past. I'm looking forward to burning some metal and making something cool.
