Edit: just realized we talked about this in this thread just yesterday. lol. I’m still to afraid of water leaking in later

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
This is all courtesy of Meso's build thread minus the custom leds. You are not illegally tinting the lens but just removing the chrome and controlling the C pattern. Here it is all apart showing chrome reflectors and unpainted lens. Also Meso's build thread.

So I took out some pretty good led bulbs(reverse lights) to install the stage 2’s. Where else can I use these bulbs on the truck?

Not sure if these can be used elsewhere. You could always try to sell them here on TW

Looked at my brake lights today (Stage 1) and noticed only the bottom half of the passenger side light was on.

I just had that happen to mine. Contact Meso. The top led on my passenger side was broken. The led portion had separated from the PCB.

Pull the tail light out and check bulb the connection. I have had a few instances where the bulb vibrated loose from the socket and was not making a good contact. It's super rare for a stage 1 bulb to go dead(I have only had 2 out of 1,000+)
Yours was a little different. It was a stage 2 VLED bulb which was obviously defective.( separating in half from the base and the PCB) but a new one is on the way:)

    ^^^^THIS!
I 've had it happen a few times after washboarding. Some bulbs just like to eject themselves. (With truck OFF: you can bend the prongs in the socket to increase the tension on the bulb).

It was a loose bulb. Thanks @MESO
Then I got the dreaded hyperflash in that light. Turned out to be a cold solder joint on the resistor lead.

Well this is my first set. Some minor things but learned a lot. Just waiting for paint to cure then reassemble. Next set will be easier and better I hope. Lol

    Still working on it
So I am getting ready to do my install as well, but many comments saying the best/cleanest way to make room for new LED is using the ultrasonic knife. How did you cut it specifically without getting pieces stuck in the light itself?

I used a torch and a utility knife. Went slow and held the tail light assemble upside down while make the cuts. It can be a bit messy, but I did not get anything inside the light. Just go slow and clean the blade often.

I used a $15 hot knife from Amazon to cut mine out. Took about 30 minutes for each but worked well with minimum pieces falling into light. Few that did easily shook out. Well worth the $15.
Stage 2 Tail Lights look great and basically easy install. Highly recommended MESO upgrade.
