Been slowly plugging away over the last 3 months (with about 50% of that being away on travel) on this Hasegawa F-35B "Marine Version" in 1/72nd scale. Originally I didn't like the decals for the secondary color pattern supplied with the kit so I decided (reluctantly) to hand mask them... I sprayed the secondary color first and masked the pattern out - 12 hours and a boatload of cursing and punching things they were masked and ready for the primary color. After a few coats of Alclad II Aqua Gloss I decal'd and started on detail addition of the exhaust outlet, landing gear and cockpit. I'm still only about 70% done so the rest will hopefully be completed over the next weekish.

One thing I did modify was the real stabilizers aren't angled for vertical approach so I sanded them and modified them so that they were angled per the actual flight variation.

That looks like masking hell, but the end result is great. Nice work!

Props! I'm not sure I'd have the patience for all that masking. Great job and result!

Has anybody in here built any of these metal earth models? Picked up the Apollo CSM with LM this weekend.

It might. I've taken it out and it looks like it will take some time. Here's the first two pages of instructions...

Noticed that I never put up final shots of the Hasegawa F-35B Marines edition I finished a while back
Still have yet to take proper finished shots but these will do:

Since the F-35B I have completed two kits:
    Takom 12.8cm Flak 40 Zwilling (1/35th Scale)
Accurate Miniatures IL-2 Stormovik (1/48th Scale)

Currently building three kits back to back.
    Monogram EA-6B Prowler (1/48th Scale)
    Italeri CH-47F (1/48th Scale)

Here are some photos of the Flak Cannon:
(Forgot to add I took it back to the shop and dialed back on the rust and sprayed a black filter over the whole thing so it looks a little less dramatic with the rust and coloring)

Holy.. that looks awesome! I just did seatbelts out of PE (basically etched brass) and it took me forever. I can only imagine how long these took...

Thank you! My Wife was sick last week so I retired to the model room to keep my distance. I finished it pretty quickly. Started looking it over Sunday night and was done by Wednesday. Just a couple hours each night.

Here is another model built by my Grandfather that I have acquired. I plan on recreating it as well.

I found the kit on Ebay and purchased it this week.

I also found a decal kit for this monogram model kit. I plan on using the 3rd decal set pictured for UA 33878

Here is the actual aircraft stationed at Barbers Point Hawaii sometime between 1954 and 1962. This was a utility aircraft used to tow targets.

Unboxing. Pretty nice kit. It looks like it will go together fairly easy. Needs more detail tho
