    Hello to all,

I have a 2006 Tacoma and had some fuel pump issues so I had it replaced and all seemed fine until a couple days later. I took it back to the place that replaced the fuel pump and they said the new issue was the resistor. My question is is this pretty easy to replace myself bc I am wondering if the place is trying to get more money out of me or what. I looked up the part and it doesn’t seem to cost much and if I can replace it myself then I will just do that. Anyway first time on here and hopefully y’all will have some good insight for me. Thanks in advance!

It is located behind the drivers headlight in front of the battery. One bolt and one connector.

Always found it kind of "crude" the way they lowered the voltage to the fuel pump like this... a simple PWM circuit would be more ideal from an efficiency standpoint but for simplicity this works!

Terrible spot for it! Lol my battery leaked all over the thing one day sitting on a steep incline. But still no issues with it so I'm not messing with it

Glad I read this thread. I've wondered what that was for and now I know.

I just looked between the battery and driver’s side headlight and I don’t see it. Can someone let me know where it is on my 2009 2.7L?
    Thanks, Mike

I just looked at the schematic for the 2.7L and there is no resistor. They only use the resistor on the 4.0L.

    Good to know!

As well as having a trans dipstick, there are benefits to the 2.7.

Yes you do. It is located between the steering wheel and the drivers seat.

    Just kidding!
