    Hi to all fellow fishers,

I'm board adjacent for my local fly fishing club and I was curious as to how many of you choose to join a fishing club or not (I'm not judging). I'm trying to get an idea at least among Tacoma owners to see how many of you are part of a club and how active you may or may not be in it.

For the purposes of this poll, active would mean attending regular meetings and going to the occasional club outing.

Poll will close in three weeks on September 25th.

    Thanks y'all!

Theres one "club" up here I'd be interested in but their website sucks and they dont really have anything I'd like to attend. BUT that being said, I'd like to get with like minded fishers and get tips and tricks for targeting certain fish.

I've found that the fly fishing club I'm a member of has been especially useful for me learning some things you wouldn't normally pick up from a book or watching a video. I also know the feeling of finding out a certain product or club or organization has a webpage that looks like it dates back to geocities days and I'm less likely to trust in them to either support for their product or responsiveness. Not that that's necessarily the case for every business with a bad website. I've been helping out my club by redesigning their newsletter to look a lot more visually appealing to give the organization a bit more of a professional/current appearance.

Haha, so the person I work with on the newsletter, he sits on the board. I don't really want to sit on the board mostly because it's a bunch of old people arguing. But if I wanted a vote on certain matters, they could grant me one. I've been a president for something else and the amount of debating that goes on before a vote really makes me not want to get involved.

The last board meeting I attended, there was a question about who joins clubs or how to possibly increase membership, so I kinda wanted to know a little more about how some people might view clubs.

And there you have my answer.

I'd rather have 3-4 good friends and enjoy the tackle building and the outings rather than make a fun hobby procedural in nature.

That's more related to the actual nature of the board voting. The club meetings feature things more like lectures, fish stories, demonstrations, things like that. That stuff I like to do, i'm just glad the voting is mostly behind the curtain.

Heres one I was interested in but after looking through it, it wasnt really helpful. I was looking more for a forum setting and not just tournament standings...
