Hello everyone I drive a 2013 2.7L auto 4-speed DCSB. I feel like I’m getting terrible mileage so I was hoping for some comparisons from others with the same engine and transmission. My last Fuelly fillup had me at 14.6mpg with an average of 15.6mpg over four fillups. I really try to keep a light foot and try and stay under 2k mpg.
Is this just how it is with this engine and trans? Or is there something I should look into specifically? I thinking about cleaning MAF sensor and possibly doing an intake and fuel injection clean.
    Thanks for any help.

For summer time and a stock truck, that sounds low. I'm lifted 3" and running 33" tires with the 2.7 and Auto and tow a boat every weekend. I rarely get above 45 mph in most of my driving as well. My last 8 fillups resulted in:
    16.701
    16.723
    17.039
    16.882
    16.654
    17.812
    16.654
    16.974
but it drops down to 14's or 15's in the winter.

I got 16-17 mpg on my 2010 2.7 with 30k miles. I changed my spark plugs at 90k. It had the wrong plugs installed, CarMax serviced it like it was a V-6 before I bought it.

    I get 20-21 mpg now.

Interesting, I got this truck through carvana, at 49k miles. It came from Pennsylvania here to Arizona. I didn’t expect crazy good mileage, but I feel like this is very low.
I’ll check the spark plugs out tomorrow.

It may also take some time for the computer to adjust to a new owner and driving style. It the previous owner was pedal to the floor all the time it probably got bad gas mileage. If you drive less aggressively then it should adjust.

New Toyota engine air filter just put in. I’m still going to check the spark plugs because who knows what fuckery carvana gets up to.
I’ll update when I fill my tank again.

jup that's factory, they are rated in the owners manual at 120k miles in fact the one you have are the really good denso made in japan long life model, they have been superceded to SKHR11 model which may be a sub'd out version made elsewhere, you can still get those original A11'S you pulled at ROCKAUTO, the dealer sells you the SKHR11 for less money, both are IRIDIUMS req'd by Toyota to run in the 2.7l engine.

I get about 15-14 mpg city (hilly S.F.) 18-20 highway (hilly NorCal).
I'm not a lead foot...but I step on the gas when traffic requires it.
100k+ with the same factory plugs

So here’s some more fuelly results after this last tank. I was about halfway through the first quarter of the new tank when I replaced the engine air filter and there were some times where I had to get on it on surface streets. Everyone in Arizona does 10+ on any streets especially where it’s 45mph. I’m gonna drive as conservatively as possible this tank and see what that gets me.

My '14 4 cyl, 4wd only got below 20mpg once that I recall and that was when it was on dirt roads for several days during hunting season. Couldn't imagine 14 - 15 mpgs. Sounds like it may need investigating. Btw, my current 4 cyl, 2wd hasn't been below 25 mpg20190924_094635.jpg

Cleaned MAFS and reset “ECU” so let’s see what that does. I feel a difference in acceleration, it used to feel like it was struggling a bit to get to the speed I wanted in certain rpm ranges and it gets up to speed faster.
I checked all spark plugs and all plug cylinders are clean with no oil intrusion. Plugs coloring looked fine within acceptable ranges.
I have no codes and system checks tested okay.
I’ll will report back after this tank of fuel.
