"GMC Canyon sales performance places the midsize pickup truck in second-to-last place in its segment by cumulative sales volume, behind the Toyota Tacoma in first, the Canyon’s corporate cousin – the Chevrolet Colorado in second (see running Chevrolet Colorado sales), the new Ford Ranger in third, and the Nissan Frontier in fourth. The Canyon managed to outsell the newest entrant in the segment, the all-new Jeep Gladiator. However, it should be noted that the Gladiator faced limited availability during the quarter."

Can you hear the sound of my laughter? Especially for those folks who sold their Tacoma to buy the "new and improved" Ford Ranger.

I'll let you read this while I clean the coffee off my keyboard which I just spit out laughing so hard.

    :)

Do you get some form of compensation for Tacoma selling more than X?

The only Ford product that I can think of, off the top of my head, that was a pretty good vehicle was (and is) the Crown Vic.

Auto manufacturers such as General Motors are trending towards only releasing quarterly sales, but I prefer to see monthly sales. Either way, we’re used to the Tacoma outselling the competition.

had a 94 ford explorer. sold it at 262k miles same engine and trans. Even back then i remember being on serious explorations forum and seeing everyone getting a new transmission etc. still very decent from a one family vehicle.

Just divide it by 3. Boom, monthly sales average for the quarter. You can thank math.

A guy around the corner from me has the new Ranger. It's nice. Even he admits it's not better than the Tacoma, just different. He got decent financing on it, but only because he thinks the Tacomas are overpriced.

I had a Ford Ranger for twenty years before the Tacoma (83’ Toyota SR5 pickup before that) it was a great truck ... no complaints about it from me.

Shrug. Who cares? Lots of people drink Budweiser; it doesn't mean it's the best beer.

The F150 outsold the Tundra nearly 10-to-1 last year (1.1 million vs 118 thousand); it doesn't necessarily mean the F150 is a better truck.
