First night in the new tent! It's really nice but feels so much smaller than the last on 56" verses 76".
Going to have to find a small girlfriend! LOL.

which tent do you have now? and before?

I saw CVT is having an up to 30% off sale on tents with FALL20 code, been debating on jumping to their Mt Rainier to get the wider footprint for my big ass.

I had a CVT Mt Hood (old model I purchased around 2013 I think). 76x96 no extension.
I now have a Tepui Ruggedized Autana 3 56x96. I'm just accustom to have some spread out space. Don't get me wrong, I love it and the fact that it doesn't overhang the short bed like my last one.
Also, this thing is heavy at 195lbs. I should have had help mounting it but I got it done. I have a Racor hoist in the garage from my last tent so I'm all for removing and install in the future. I don't like to leave it on the truck all the time.

Can anybody tell me if this is the most recent version of the CVT Mt. St. Helen's or if it's one of the older ones.

My ~80lb Golden lets me pick him up and put him in the tent, we call it "the muffin" where I grab him around his chest and butt so his four legs dangle in the middle, making him into a ~muffin shape. We have the tent on an RCI Rack so it's about 10" over the bed. I put our RTIC 65 next to the ladder as a way to get a wider stance when I hoist him him up, one foot on the ladder and one on the cooler - he loves getting up into the tent, but getting down is sometimes a bit of a rodeo. He jumped out of it once or twice but has learned that patience is important for softer landings and will now reluctantly allow me to grab him and carry him out in the same fashion I get him up.

Anyone on here with a 1st gen double cab with a hardtop RTT? I currently have the Tepui Ayer. Its on bed bars and sits below the roof line of the truck. I like it a lot, but have recently been thinking of possibly changing to the roofnest. would like to see how they sit above the roofline.

Anyone else ever used their RTT as a hunt blind? Lemme tell ya, have the stove and whatnot set up in an annex and you can have the sweetest deer spot known to man.

I'd be careful depending on what your state considers "hunting from your vehicle".

I don't know if a RTT in the bed of your truck counts or not :notsure:

True. Following the law is on you, but I was legal to my knowledge. Usually hunting from a vehicle is more related to public road proximity rather than actually sitting in a vehicle.

What do people do for older RTT in terms of re-waterproofing? Anyone ever done anything to theirs? Search function isnt turning up much about it, and there are no products linked below..

Im thinking I would like to re-treat the sides and top (rainfly off) of my old Ayer 2 this fall before it gets too much colder. Just something to add a bit more water repelancy.. Hopefully get the water to bead up on the sides/ windows rather than soak into the fabric like it is now.

Seems the 2 main options are Canvas preservatives or newer waterproofing treatments.

Obviously Im looking for something that will dry after application so there arent any smells or fumes while in the tent. Not sure if this product will do that or not

Downside to this one is its a 'wash-in' product. Taking the whole tent apart and finding a bucket big enough to wash it in is a bit more effort than I was hoping for.

So yeah, anyone got any clever ideas? :D

I have a stock 2019 Off Road with an ARE CX HD Shell.

I am not sure of the shell weight but has the internal frame so weights maybe 200 pound or so.

I want to get a hard shell RTT that weighs around 150.

With the combined weight of 350 on back will stock suspension be okay or will it sag?

    Thanks
