I’ve been looking too. I think that skid plate came on a package that included some 18” BBS wheels, color matched running boards, and some type of roof rails.

it was an add-on accessory mostly but could have been part of a package.

btw there were no 17" or 18" wheels for the 1st Gen Tacoma that I know of. The Enkei/Ivan Stewart wheels were 16's.

From what I read, you can modify the 1st gen Tundra or Sequoia skid plate to fit. They still sell it too.

Maybe the package I’m thinking about was dealer installed, perhaps regional. Pre- XSP maybe. 2290F4B6-4B04-4923-B19D-5151DC3A35CB.jpg

IMO, if you do any actual off-roading where you might actually hit the thing on rocks, you'd be better off putting an actual skid plate on there made from at least 3/16" steel, like budbuilt, All Pro, or others...

Or just read through here if you're a do it yourselfer with a few tools. You'll save a ton of money.

IMO, these TRD ones are mostly window dressing...

That was a looooonnng time ago lol. The tundra one is only like 1 or 2" wider. I imagine with a piece of angle iron and a hand drill you could make something work.

Agreed. It's actually annoying. If I want to drop the factory skid, this thing has to come off first. Only 4 bolts I know but just an extra piece to deal with. Window dressing only and serves no real purpose.

does anyone know what kind of mods needed to make the tundra fit? I know the skid is longer, and brackets for sure are different, are there any links in here. im looking to do this on my 07 4runner. cant find that part anywhere PT212-89070 also heard that PT 212-35040 ad 34060 are somewhat comparable. if anyone has an insight its greatly appreciated!
