Want 7" touchscreen. $350 budget, Android phone user, minimum 1 USB, would like front and rear camera inputs, decent sound not a huge audiophile, ability to possibly watch movies (child on roadtrip). Looking between the kenwood DDX775BH and pioneer AVH-601EX. Any thoughts out there, not really into this stuff too much but the factory unit leaves much to be desired.

    I have a kenwood ddx-595. It works. I assume it’s similar to the ddx-775.

Bluetooth works for the most part, sometimes it freaks out and I’ll have to restart it or the phone. Sound quality is awesome, and has many features to tune it to how you want it. Pulls in radio stations great. I’ve never watched movies on it, but it has a reverse and front cam and they both look great.

If you can find one with WiFi connectivity over Bluetooth, I suggest going that route. All the Bluetooth connectivity and sound issues are solved with WiFi

    Too much.
I did this in my Tundra. You will have to solder in a parking break bypass when you are putting everything together in order to utilize the DVD player while driving.

I have a couple of questions:

    1. is the part of a larger build (will you be adding a sub/amp/better speakers)?
    2. What Android phone?
    3. Watch movies = DVD player correct?
    4. Do you want Android Auto?

As of right now no plans to add a sub or amp, the PO did upgrade the speakers to a mid level Alpine I believe. I have the samsung Galaxy s8+, never really used Android auto so not sure if it's something I would miss or not. DVD player is the thought, but I'm open to suggestions.

Ok, maybe down the line. Still looking for a head unit though.

I'd like to recommend JVC stereos. Same company as Kenwood, same performance, fewer "gimicky" options that only add to the price, imo. I had one in my 2015 Taco Access Cab and loved it. Capacitive touch screens, and only 3 buttons on the outside: volume and power, very sleek look. I feel like this brand gets overlooked but it's a workhorse and more budget friendly.
