Quick Charge USB replacement accessory socket

Recently the cover to one of my accessory outlets broke, instead of replacing it with the equivalent part I figured I'd install a USB socket instead. I'm having trouble finding anything that seems like decent quality. Has anyone tried something like this with good success?

Many of these have really poor fakespot ratings which makes me cautious to buy one

 

its only $15. Not much to gamble.

I have this one in my truck. It charges my samsung phone and tablet as fast as the wall charger in the house. I wired it to the battery so its always on which is nice on camping trips, i can charge my phone and tablet at night.

 

I like the way it looks and it reads well. They don't seem to say the output. Like 1.5A 2.1A or 2.4A?

 

I'm not worried about the $15, I'm more worried about some crap quality Chinese charger frying my $1,000 phone or catching fire in the truck. I wish Anker or Aukey made these types of sockets

Do you experience the same issue that guy with his RV had in his review? When you plug in your phone does the voltage read really low?

After a little thought I might just remove the plastic cover and keep one of these in the socket permanently

Had the exact same problem with cover breaking, also just ordered the one originally pictured last night...fuckin weird.

I have a couple of their other, cigarette plug USB adapter. Seems great for the money, so far

 

Check Front Runners site. I saw some on their site recently. More pricey that EBay, but less likely to burn your truck down.

It does that but i believe it is reading the voltage that it is using to charge the phone. Iv not had any issues with it.

 

These look good but are 3 times the price. 2.4A per socket is a nice.

 

I don’t know the brand but I put a double usb In my socket that lost a cover and it has worked great.

Question: why pay for the output readout? It charges or it doesn’t - or am I missing something?

 

Because the extra 1$ is nothing and people like readouts.

 

It's supposed to be input voltage, not output.
