That’s pretty cool. Seeing all these pens is making me want to fire up the lathe. I haven’t turned much of anything in a long time 8BD21C9B-D8D1-4A90-B86E-11ED86ADC850.jpg and I’ve never tried a pen. I did make a screwdriver set before though, which I’d assume uses a similar process.

if you use the smaller diagonal cutter on second to last on the right, follow the angle with the flat portion of the pen blank and at 90degree while cutting it will get some of the fine circular scratches off. just have to use light pressure, works best with harder woods but you can do it on softer but the softer is prone to chip out. Also if you are doing the bolt action pens its wise to get some extra brass inserts...otherwise you will be short an insert when you destroy a blank...ask me how i know ;)

you'll be surprised how close you can actually get it with the gouge and then smooth it up with the diagonal cutter...

So I finished my nephews sandbox picnic table and today was his birthday party. Here is a final picture of it all setup. The kids today loved it.

I am realizing I really need a table saw. But don't have room for a cabinet saw, Cant afford a smaller sawstop, thinking my only option is the Delta hybrid exclusive to Lowes....thoughts?

For what it’s worth, my dad recently considered the same saw. He ended up buying a Grizzly 1023R for about $1400. He said he preferred the Grizzly’s fence and motor over the Delta’s. He’s happy with his decision...said it zips right through 8/4 hard maple.

Anyone run wen saws? Still a year out or so but been eyeballing the bandsaw below. We don’t get a lot of used stuff around here. I think people are still figuring out what this intranets thing is. Wouldn’t get used a ton but also don’t want to limit my options. The 6” resaw is pretty tempting. For the use it would get, I wouldn’t want to go higher then $600.

I run 10/4 stock through my Delta, just make sure you have a good blade and everything is aligned properly. Should be no problem
