Did you not read what I replied with? They didn’t ‘drain battery usage,’ they changed the performance of the phone to match degraded battery stats. It’s optimization that you can now turn off if you so desire.

Agreed on all accounts. We are always on the go and my two kids are very active so I like the ruggedness of the gopros. I definitely would love to upgrade to the new one from my 5.

That’s one of the main reasons I got hooked on Apple in the beginning. Their support is fantastic for their devices. I remember I had a galaxy s3 back in the day and they only supported it for maybe a year.

Apples hardware is fantastic in these phones, quality products. But of course I don’t like the price lol, but all the smartphones are heading in that direction. The optimization in apples phones are top notch. They RAM specs may not be as high and have old tech but the way they optimize them is truly something. They keep up with the competition if not surpass them.

I didn’t order the 11 since I’m on a 10S but I did preorder the series 5. My series 2 finally broke so it was time.

Nice, I almost ordered the 5, but my 4 is still running strong. I do like that always on feature the 5 has.

I was in the same boat all the way from the 2 with every new release. It was outstanding until I finally broke the screen last week. I wore it everyday to work, and had insane amounts of runs and lifting workouts. I didn’t know how much I relied on it until it was gone lol.

Things I don't miss after I switched to Apple:

    - Google collecting all your data
    - Inconsistent operating system updates
    - Inconsistent security patches

I'll happily pay more and deal with some of Apple's bullshit to get part of my life away from Google.

My 8 Plus is still running strong. Hoping to get another year or two out of it.

Same with me, I just noticed I have decent scratch in the face that went through the oleophobic coating :annoyed:. I mean it’s not horrible but I figure I’ll rock it until I see what the series 6 is all about.

I got an iPhone 11 Pro Max from Best Buy, my carrier is AT&T. Backed up my 6 Plus to iTunes, followed the instructions from Best Buy (insert SIM card, turn on phone, follow prompts). Restored from backup, then called phone number for Best Buy customers to activate through AT&T. The 11 Pro Max is now activated, but messages and contacts didn't carry over. My apps carried over but they're not in their respective folders, in fact there aren't any folders at all.

When I upgraded from a 4S to a 6 Plus, all my contacts and messages carried over, as well as my apps and the folders there were in. I was expecting the same thing to happen when upgrading to the 11 Pro Max. Where did I go wrong?

I'm trying to do my best to google at work without the bosses seeing me but from what I found so far, was I not supposed to use the new SIM card?

How many people have got there’s so far? How are you liking it?

I’ve been debating switching carriers for a while now as Verizon isn’t great at my new work. Previously I got a Verizon discount through my old work, and my new work has a discount with ATT. Because they seem to have better service at my work and I’ll get a discount, I decided I was probably going to switch to them. Seen they had a buy one get one free deal so that made it even more enticing. My daughter has straight talk with an iPhone 5. She’s been asking me for a while about a new phone. I guess straight talk is upgrading there network and claiming her phone won’t work after they do the upgrade. I assume I probably could if swapped SIM cards and it would work on their new network and they were just using that as a reason to get people to upgrade. I decided it would be easier to just have us both on a shared plan and now we’ll both have unlimited. I’m coming from an iPhone 6. I really didn’t care to upgrade, and kinda wanted to wait until 5g is up and running and Apple has a 5g phone. Might be another year or two though. But figure I can then just trade this 11 in or sell it to help pay for some of the upgrade.

Anyways our new 11’s will be here tomorrow. Just looking for some feedback on them.

I had a 128gb 6 Plus and since it can no longer upgrade to iOS 13 I decided to get the 512gb 11 Pro Max. My 6 Plus was slow and was running out of storage too so those were also motivating factors.

I did the old school way of backing up my 6 Plus to iTunes, then restoring the backup to my 11 Pro Max. I did this 3 times and every single time my apps weren't in folders, my text messages didn't carry over and some contacts were missing. This was very frustrating. So after some googling I followed the steps in this article:

    https://www.theverge.com/2019/9/20/20871131/data-transfer-new-iphone-11-pro-max-ios-how-to

The step I miss was to update the 6 Plus to 12.4. I forgot to do that so it was still on 12.2. The migration process stopped and prompted me to plug the new phone into iTunes. Well I got the same result of no text messages, etc. So I updated the 6 Plus to 12.4 and the migration process went smoothly. Everything carried over, even the wallpaper. For what it's worth, I'm on AT&T. The 11 Pro Max came with a SIM card so I used that instead of swapping the old SIM card in.

I'm still getting used to the phone. Looking at the video settings, I think 512gb might not be enough storage especially if you plan to shoot a ton of videos at the highest quality setting (one minute of video is about 400mb). I also hate how the battery percentage is no longer on constant display, you have to swipe down from the top right corner to see it. I miss the home button and headphone jack too.

I got the official Apple clear case and wasn't happy with it. It felt too slippery and I just couldn't justify the $39 price tag. I ended up with an Aura case from Five Below, a discount store in my area. Only cost $5.

    https://www.fivebelow.com/iphone-11-reg-aura-case-black.html

I also got the cheapest screen protector at Best Buy for $14.99. I'm going to return it since I got an XS Max screen protector from Dollar Tree. I compared both and they're the same size, weight and feel. Don't get duped into buying a screen protector marketed for the newer phones.

I also got the Apple clear case and did not like it. I ended up getting the totalle clear case and their screen protector. It’s the best case hands down for a minimalist and their screen protector has been great for me as well. I’ve had them for the last 3 iPhone releases. It shows off the green really nice.

I could not believe they actually made the OLED better this year. I thought my Xs Max was amazing but this release is better. And wow, that wide angle camera is legit, something I’ve always wanted. You can capture so much more in your picture. Night mode is really nice too, I was surprised how good it was.

I highly doubt you will have any storage issues, especially if you have your pics/vids backed up to iCloud you can just choose to optimize iPhone storage and you will be amazed how that saves space. I have TONS of pics and videos of my 2 and 4 year old lol.

I wouldn’t worry about the headphone jack unless you need to charge and listen at the same time, which I found to be rare. Especially with this phone with the huge battery. Also you can view your battery status by swiping left of your home screen to the widgets section.

I ordered an 11 Pro Max today. I've had my 6s Plus for years and it's getting tired and cranky. I'm fortunate to get mine purchased and paid for by the government where I work. Since they buy so many of them, my Pro Max will only be $799 due to bulk purchasing. (I think full retail is about $1,299). I bought the 256GB memory version to save taxpayer money but since I don't store much on the phone, that should be plenty. I'm only using 32GB of my current 64GB memory and have a years worth of history on it. I move my pictures onto my Google Drive account and off my phone so if my phone breaks or disappears I haven't lost anything. Other work related files are duplicated on our government network for security, GRAMA, and transparency issues.

The biggest thing for me is actually fitting in the rectangle bin of my 2nd generation. My 6s Plus with a thin case has about 1/8 inch space from end to end. It fits perfect and I want my next phone to do the same. As an IT guy I feel the Samsung is a superior phone, technologically about 3 years ahead of apple, and has a much less arrogant OS but it doesn't fit the holder and I don't want to spend the time learning something new right now. I'll buy a Samsung when I retire and give up my government issued iPhone for sure.

I’ve got my 256gb X. XS and XS Max came out last year, bummed out there wasn’t much change but I did expect it a little since it’s what apple usually does.
Then they pull this BS out of their asses, the 11. No major change, no major upgrade really, I don’t consider the extra wide angle camera worthwhile when I can just use a lens.
I mean, no wireless charging of other iPhones or AirPods like android?...
    Pissed me off so much
I don’t care how much T-Mobile is willing to pay for me to swap over, there’s no way in hell im paying for that phone, EVER. At this point if Apple doesn’t step it up with the next iPhone, I’m gone. I don’t care how “open” Android is with my information, VPN all the time and passcode lock everything and no passcode chain.
