I live up in the Burbank area, so I like to stick to places North of LA since they tend to be less crowded. Lots of places around Los Padres and then Yosemite for longer trips. Although I'm heading back to Joshua Tree this next weekend.

We're staying at Jumbo Rocks campground at Joshua Tree. Have some family out that way so may switch plans last minute.

There are some campgrounds that have reservations up in Los Padres, but a ton are first come first serve. This time of year you don't have mush to worry about. In my opinion, Los Padres is way less crowded than Angeles National Forest since less people make it up that way. Plus a ton of the roads to get to campgrounds are dirt roads in Los Padres, which tends to drive away the prius/RV campers that can make the places noisy/crowded.

I’m on my 3rd or 4th day of having to put the RTT away wet, thanks to prevailing weather conditions. Drying it out with good old sunshine doesn’t seem feasible at the moment, what do you guys use?

(Don’t want it to start molding)

...I don't know how useful this post will be, but it's not uncommon that people ask me some version of how I got comfortable going off into the great outdoors as much as I do. Sometimes it's about how I got started; sometimes it's about how I am able to do so many trips; other times it's about how I developed the ability to feel confident in dealing with anything that comes up on the trail.

So I wrote a thing. It seems good, or at least seems like me.

How I Got Started with Offroad Adventuring

Hey @LTDSC, the replacement toggle (OEM) part come in the mail yesterday. Not quite sure how I'm going to attach it yet but thought I'd let you know they are now selling them.

What are people using for camp lights? i was thinking of perhaps getting magnetic LED work lights to use for camp. But wanted to see if anyone had suggestions.

I almost exclusively use a rechargeable headlamp. I a lot easier than putting individual lights all over the place.

Thank you. His stuff is amazing man. So I had to buy everything

I can’t believe that no one has swapped or changed out those straps over the RTT cover.
Does anyone know how to remove small black spots from the vinyl covers? I assume it’s like a mold or something but I can’t remove them completely

I replaced mine to get rid of the velcro and d-rings with these. Replaced the internal straps too.

My trucks got ditch lights and rock lights, which i use. I’m going to add some form of LED to the rear, as that’s where i cook and pull out supplies, and therefore need the most lighting. For now, i as well use a headlamp

Well, it's not every day that I get to go camping with my dad, and it's not that often that I camp in the same spot for more than one night. I mean, I guess we camped in the same spot two nights in a row on the Idaho BDR when a brake caliper seized up, but that was clearly an exceptional situation! :D Plus, after last year's adventure - my first time experiencing one of Pops favorite spots in the Sierras - I knew this was a place that I wanted to return. Likely, for years to come. It really is a special place.

So, early in the summer, we arranged a week where we could get together and just go enjoy the outdoors. I forget exactly when that was going to be, but as seems to happen in life, life got in the way and we had to cancel. It was a bummer to say the least, so it was awesome that a few months later we were each able to squeak several days into our schedule to pop down to ************* for a few days.
