Tried looking it up, but only like two threads have been made and neither were pretty decisive. Was looking through the shell forums, but most are for the rail system for the other gens. For those that have a shell on their 1st gen did you guys prefer a certain type of clamps? from what those two threads these two were mentioned. I also plan on using weather strips on the rails to ensure it is water tight, but was also thinking of replacing the boot part of the cap that attaches to the cab. the shell has literally no name or ID that i can find, but i was thinking you could just run a weather strip around the already used boot and just make sure its pressed up against the cab? thanks in advance

My 17 year old cap came with alum. clamps similar to Tite-Loc-Tru but only uses 4 as the side windows hinge up and storage boxes are there and block addnl. clamps mid section. IDK about cab to shell boot, dont have one. I used Amazon cap weatherstrip, leaks only with high pressure spray so far.

I have a snug top on my Taco and I prefer the black snug top clamps. They're slim and keep the topper securely attached to the truck. I had to make some small adjustments to my over rail bed liner to use the clamps.

I have 4 of those Tite Lok camper clamps on my 20 year old Glass Tite truck shell and they work fine. Be sure that when you replace the truck shell back on that your weather stripping gaskets are glued to the bed rail firmly and that its aligned with your truck shell. Clamp down the shell to your bed rails. Then test it to see if it’s waterproof by spraying a garden hose on your truck shell and look for leaks.

I don’t know if they still make those rubber boots that go from the truck’s rear sliding window into the truck shell’s sliding window. I’ve seen people improvise their own from different material. My truck shell windows are too small for me to slide into from the back of the truck, but I can open both the truck’s rear sliding window & the truck shell’s window to access the gear that I have stored at the front of the truck bed.

Yea, some parts here are pricey but some are hard to find and a good deal. The guys that work at this shop are super cool!! I’ve been in there for parts only to have them installed for free.
