    For 18" 600 and 500 lb springs on 8" shocks a couple ratchet straps work fine.

    Eh I’ve taken them off with flat and raised spring seats - you don’t need to compress them as much as oem coilovers.

    The last 8" I worked on had an 18" 700# spring, raised seat, and 2" of preload. Every setup is different.

    Notice how I said 500 and 600 lb springs. It doesn’t seem impossible w/ 700’s, but I haven’t tried one. Why wouldn’t you take out the preload?

    Yup, I did notice. I'm not disagreeing with you. Just reiterating that every setup is different.

    Because I there are far more effective ways to achieve the same result.

    Idk man. Your initial post about this said you need tools to do this with. Spinning a spring retainer isn’t hard and no special tools are needed. I’ve managed to have a lot work on my truck with the tools at my disposal that are not expensive or unnecessary. Specialized tools are great but not necessarily essential.
