I am a 5'10 male and weigh 125lbs and i am trying to decide if I should get a 250 or a 450 dirt bike. I was leaning toward the 250 but i want to go dune riding and i was wondering if a 250 would have enough power to go up dunes.

Enduro? Dirt bike? 2 stroke vs 4 stroke? Need more details, though bigger is usually better.

Bigger is not better. My 650 is too top heavy and too powerful for riding mud or sand. Modern 250 will do a great job in most cases. More important than size is the rider ability and experience. New rider? Get a small, inexpensive used bike, learn on it, then trade up for bigger if you need more power

    I’d go with the 250.

Mainly because 450’s scare the shit out of me.

    New rider? 250

Especially with your weight 250 will be more than fine. You're a bit tall so may be a good idea to compare both by sitting on them to make sure you're not cramped

    But I'd recommend 250

I think the main consideration here besides power is weight. You can learn fundamentals much better on a lighter bike and you will also attempt things that you wouldn't consider when you are riding something too heavy for your skill.

If there is one thing about the used motorcycle market is that everyone is always trading. Get a lighter 250 and trade around when you feel comfortable. It will also allow you to ride a couple different bikes of different styles. Nobody gets "their bike" first time around.

    Have fun, be safe
