Started to have my clutch pedal moan and groan and went down to the dealership to talk to them about what I thought fell under T-SB-0186-12.

Turns out that there is a revised/new TSB effective August 19, 2019 that supersedes the old one and covers Tacoma's from 2005 - 2019. The new one is T-SB-0112-19. Hopefully it's helpful to some of the Manual drivers out there experiencing this.

    SOON...
Thanks! I need to get this taken care of. Pretty frustrating after just 20k miles.

It kicked in for me at 22K+/- seemed to happen when it was hot out or there was a swing in temperature. I agree is frustrating and irritating.

Wow, good to know! It's about time they start getting rid of these damn barn doors permanently. From my undersstanding this has been an issue across ALL gens

I dont have a copy of the previous TSB but has anything changed? Or they just added 2018/19 in there

thanks for this update. my first fix lasted 18 months or so and my last one isn't. i'm groaning, squeaking, and with significant play again way too soon. so i'll take this and fight with the service manager again.

Yeah the bigger fight that I had to go through is that is says if there is a creak to replace the clutch assembly. They obviously would rather just lubricate it and kick that can down the road.

The bigger question is that I don't think the new clutches are new and improved so is it just going to happen again down the road.... Seems to be too frequent over too long period of time to be a production defect.

THat's what im trying to ascertain is if they changed anything with parts or procedure from previous TSB. Mine is still quiet from a year ago but its usually around that 18-24 month mark that it relapses

Is this a separate issue from the 2nd gen throw-out bearing/aluminum shaft squeaking issue?

Yeah who knows, maybe Toyota figures if they do it once then it will make it past 36k and then it's out of warranty and becomes your problem. Hope that isn't the case though.

My dealer has honored a TSB out of warranty since I've had it on record as a known issue. But YMMV there.

The TSB doesn't even cover people out of the standard manufacturer warranty? Thanks for nothing Toyota.

Fortunately my 2017 hasn't really had the issue, I don't think. I assume I'd know if it did since a lot of people seem to complain about it on here. So I'll probably get it eventually and have to deal with it myself.

Its a numbers game, Tacoma's make up 5% of the manufacturing numbers so that's what 12,250+/- a year out for the 245,000+/- made. I think some people maybe got lucky although I think climate plays a large role in it too.

totally different issue. this is about the pedal assembly. that was about TOB and we don't have aluminum in the 3g trans now.

    Here you go (see attached).

TSBs can now be found at nthsa.gov. I am not sure when that started, but very cool.

It says that they TSB parts are new.

gawd, just saw that. literally thanks for nothing. what a joke.

i'm still looking for a real solution for this. a different pedal assembly. i just don't want to overdo the custom thing on my DD.

Do you have the noise documented with your dealer?
