So, the ‘92 Dakota will be headed to the crusher with less than 150K on the clock..

 

This is highly inaccurate, as my dad only owned the truck for a year and put about 10K miles on it in that time...

 

I don’t think there was severe damage; I think somebody traded in a 27-year old, 150K mike pickup with a manual transmission that nobody wanted; It ended up going to auction and in turn ended up in a junkyard...

 

The only accurate record here is when my dad took out a loan to buy the truck in June 1992 and the title was subsequently issued. My dad traded the truck for a new Blazer in June 1993 and apparently it was purchased by the second owner in September 1993.



Also, Windsor is in York County, so it would appear that the 2nd owner moved sometime between September 1993 and July 1997.

 

This would actually be the third owner; By August 1998, the Dakota (and the Blazer it was traded for) were both long gone and my dad was driving the 1996 Nissan Pathfinder...

 

It would seem that my dad’s old truck racked up relatively few miles over the years and had less than 140K on the clock when it turned 20...

 

Driven so little that it was exempt from emissions...

 

And this is where it reached the end of the line...

 

And here’s the 2000 GMC Safari conversion van, which I suspect has been sitting in a yard in Ohio for almost five years (read on)...

 

Six owners in fifteen years?!?!

 

This is proof that this was our van...

It remained titled and registered in Virginia its whole life, but when my parents renewed the registration in May 2001 it showed up in Oak Harbor, Washington (We lived there from July 2000 to July 2002).

 

We traded it for a new Honda Odyssey in 2004, and even with less than 36K miles it sat on the lot for almost two months and ended up going to auction...

 

From there, it went to Maryland (2004-2007; not a surprise since we traded it in Virginia), back to Virginia (2007-2009; though it only stayed in NoVa while in dealer inventory and ended up quite far from where we lived), to West Virginia (2009), and then to Ohio (2009-2015????) where the trail goes cold...

 

Grundy is in Appalachia...

 

On to the Buckeye State...

 

I believe that something expensive broke, and that our old van has more than likely been sitting in someone’s yard since 2015...
