Boss lift since January 2019. wheels and tires about 2 weeks now

 

Nice! I see that you did a CMC, I've heard there are many running the boss kit and 285/70/17 without doing the CMC. From your opinion, did you feel the CMC was mandatory?

Hey everyone, just got my Tacoma and now putting together lift options. Been looking a lot at toytec boss lifts. Has anybody had experience between the regular boss lift compared to the the new boss lift with the aluma shocks.

I looked into these before I got my normal boss set up. The aluma is suppose to be more rust resistant and the main big thing is they are actually rebuild-able unlike the normal boss coil overs.

 

They are also extended travel

 

Dude I had my frame replaced by the dealer also and my truck has never rode the same. I had the boss 2.0 installed 6 months before the frame and I was so impressed with the ride. But after the frame and springs were replaced it’s been nothing but a rabbit hole! I’ve been chasing down noises and vibrations ever since. I have a AAL in the rear with the new springs they replaced and I’m convinced now that it’s causing it to ride like shit. Every bump or pot hole you def feel it and it’s really stiff...

 

Havent seen much here on a 1st gen Tacoma so I thought I would ask. I have a double cab 2003 with TRD off road. I used to have the same truck with the original TOYTEC ultimate setup with Bilstein 5100's and I loved the way it rode. They dont make that same set up anymore and the BOSS set up has me intrigued. What would you go for in the rear? AAL? Does that automatically give you a higher lift than the front? I know they come set up with a 2.5" lift is perfect for me.. ( at least I think they do!)

Anyways, just looking for some advice. No heavy crazy offroading for me.. some trails and hills in the local off roading park ( Hollister Hills )
Running FJ cruiser steelies with 265 17's BFG AT KO2's . everything else stock

Only want to do this once so I am concerned with durability as well as reliability with the BOSS stuff.

The old Ultimate kit was a great option for the Tacoma's but we found there was a little different of a valving system in the shock we didn't really like so we decided to build a shock that will handle better both on and off the road. The BOSS brand is a shock that is built and valved specifically per application, we did a double zinc coated shock body and a larger 5/8th'' shock shaft for increase corrosion resistance and durability compared to the old Ultimate kit. Still offering the threaded shock bodies for the freedom to adjust your ride and compensate for any added weight you may add down the road.

On the first gen Tacoma's we have seen on average 2.5''-3'' in the front and our standard AAL to have about 1'' of rake overall, which in our eyes is perfect. We like to promote a tad bit of rake overall to insure that when you load the truck down you have a "buffer zone" for it squat down and sit level.

I have the same exact truck. i just got the toytec boss set up w/ dakars in the rear. i also got the spc uca & 285/75/16 ko2s.
i had to get spacers and trim a lil. overall, i love the stance of my struck. its sorta stiff to drive at first but you need break it in. here a pic of how it looks like..

 

Love the Toytec Boss kit. Got um on my 1st gen 4cyl. So I went with the 500lb spring.
