    hi everyone
I’m looking at purchasing the redline tuning quick lift hood struts
I’ve have looked at all the post on here about redline quick lift system

Has anyone recently have any problems with redline tuning

Im concern that it will cause my hood to be lifted while it’s closed

Does anyone know if there is any other company that makes the same type of system

    I have a 17 Tacoma off-road

    Thanks for your time

Your hood has a front latch......why do think it would open accidentally??? Mine work great. Had similar style (James Duff) on my '68 Bronco that were great too.

I'm not sure what your concern is about. The hood has a latch and a safety latch.

I rebuilt a 67 Chevelle Malibu. After installing new springs and hinges the back of the hood popped up even if I have a front latching hood

Thanks for your time and help

You will be happy with these. Not nearly enough ooomph to pop up anything compared to those monster springs we had on the old cars. If you’re under the hood of the taco on a regular basis it’s a worth while upgrade. Pure convenience but a nice one.

One thing to note, unless something changed in the 10+ years since I used Redline products (on my old Cavalier, don't ask why, lol). When the hood is closed the lift is actually in more of a horizontal position putting force towards the front of the hood (not that it's going to go any place). So even if you popped the hood and unlatched it, if I remember correctly you have to lift it a couple inches for the lift to start aiding and supporting the hood. AFAIK, there's isn't any real way it would ever open up on it's own.

Could be wrong, haven't bought them for the Taco yet, just remember using them way back in the day. No risk at all.

I’d say you’re right. The hood pops up as normal when you pull the latch but you do need to actually start to lift the hood an inch or two beyond that before they take the weight. Good memory!

You are correct, our gas springs sit horizontally when the hood is closed not putting any upward pressure on the hood.

Thanks for clarifying/confirming that, always good to hear from the vendor/mfr on these types of things.

Great product by the way, it's on my wish list of things to add to the truck eventually. I remember using them on my old Cavalier and they were such a god send to not have to use the prop anymore. Car kind of met with an ill fate by the hands of a tow truck, earned the name "Blue Crush" for a reason....ripped the fender & frame off and took your spring with it. Been years since I've bought your product but definitely a product everyone should have!

Just installed your hood struts on my truck yesterday. When I release the hood now it pops up just a little higher and give me more room to fit my hand in to release the latch.
As I get older seems the hoods get heavier so your struts are a must. Thanks for a great product.

Went from manual heavy hood opening to the easy Redline method. Neighbor nice enough to lend some assistance.

Makes working in the engine bay easier without having to worry about knocking the hood prop over

I have them installed and they are fantastic. Easy install, work as advertised and one of the better mods for the money.

It seems like you need to bring it down to about 20% closed and it closes on it's own.
